In Survival Mode, I crafted an Oak Door & placed it. then when i pass by/stand right next to the door, I see the bubbles and when its depleted, I take damage like getting drowned underwater.

update by Gatharian:
Now only affects

  • Lava (when submerged)

Steps to reproduce

  • Place a puddle of lava.
  • Give yourself fire resistance.
  • Switch to survival.
  • Swim under the lava.
  • Notice that breathing bubbles are show but your swimming in lava not water.

I have this bug as well. I drown in lava in the nether.

Comment by thistriagonalsign [ 28/Aug/20 ]

I am still unable to reproduce this bug myself, but I attached a clip of silentwisperer demonstrating the bug on a livestream. Truly Bedrock is on 1.16.20.

Comment by [Mod] GoldenHelmet [ 27/Aug/20 ]

I cannot reproduce in vanilla in 1.16.20. I do not get an air meter in lava in survival mode. If you do, please check that it isn’t due to an add-on, and provide a video or test world.

Comment by silentwisperer [ 27/Aug/20 ]

This issue needs to be reopened, it still affects 1.16.20

Comment by [Mod] LateLag [ 22/Apr/20 ]

It's still not fixed in the latest beta.

Comment by [Helper] Whomsky [ 16/Mar/20 ]

Drowning in lava was not intended. Now fixed in 1.16.0.51 Beta

Comment by Gama [ 24/Jul/19 ]

drowning in lava is working as intended

Comment by Lio [ 18/Jul/19 ]

affects 1.13.0.2

Comment by Lio [ 02/Jul/19 ]

affects 1.13.0.1

Comment by silentwisperer [ 09/Jun/19 ]

Still affects 1.11.4

Comment by silentwisperer [ 18/Feb/19 ]

This bug still affects 1.9, and now also applies to slime blocks!

I have also suffered from the lava drowning bug myself in survival, not cool that no matter how much fire rez and fire protection you have, you still need water breathing and respiration in order to not drown. in lava. 😐

Comment by PC_Screen [ 28/Aug/18 ]

I think the lava suffocation should be kept because it makes sense. How are you supposed to be able to breath when you're submerged in a pile of molten rock?

Comment by Timothy [ 01/Aug/18 ]

Idk if this is arguable but the barrier block as well

Comment by Kyle Goempel [ 31/Jul/18 ]

This also affects whenever you are suffocating in blocks.

Comment by Lio [ 30/Jul/18 ]

Still affects 1.6.0.8

Comment by Lio [ 22/Jun/18 ]

Still affects 1.6.0.1

Comment by Giye [ 13/Jun/18 ]

Also appears when you're sufficating.

Comment by [Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay Wells) [ 27/Nov/17 ]

Reopening - as of 1.2.5.52, bubbles no longer appear when submerged in lava (with fire resistance potion) but you will still drown and die after x amount of time.

(The death message is "[Player] suffocated in a wall")

Comment by Helen Zbihlyj [ 11/Apr/17 ]

But it doesn't matter if it's water or lava- lava will suffocate you just like water will. There's no air in lava.

Comment by [MCPE Helper] Aspergerian [ 11/Mar/17 ]

Affects 1.0.4.11.

Comment by [MCPE Helper] Aspergerian [ 02/Mar/17 ]

Affects 1.0.4.1.

I should mention that this also affects mobs as well, not just the player.

Comment by [Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay Wells) [ 22/Feb/17 ]

Lava drowning bug still present in 1.0.4.0

Comment by [MCPE Helper] Aspergerian [ 08/Feb/17 ]

Affecting 1.0.3.0 (swimming in lava does show the oxygen bar, but is this confirmed as a bug?)

Comment by [Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay Wells) [ 09/Oct/16 ]

@[~nikolabojanic] - Have you updated to 0.15.90.8? They (should) have been fixed.

Comment by Nikola Bojanic [ 09/Oct/16 ]

Also affects fence, fence gate an trapdoor

Comment by gatharian [ 08/Oct/16 ]

The drowning effect now only happens when swimming in lava when completely submerged. To test use fire resistance. When you swim in lava you will see the water bubbles as if you're drowning.

Comment by Rodrigo [ 07/Oct/16 ]

rplatham When submerged in lava. But I do not know. Only I mentioned this because it is in the list in the description of the issue.

Comment by rplatham [ 07/Oct/16 ]

Rodrigo294 do you mean that you lose air when submerged in lava or also when near lava but not in it?

I would expect that even with fire resistance, you still cannot breath when submerged in lava. But perhaps that is not the case in PC?

Comment by Rodrigo [ 07/Oct/16 ]

oops still affects lava

Comment by Rodrigo [ 07/Oct/16 ]

Fixed in 0.15.90.8

Comment by Harshil mehta [ 03/Oct/16 ]

Confirmed on my Galaxy Tab S running android 6.0.1

Comment by Johnmacro [ 01/Oct/16 ]

Also happens on sign block and it'll look like players die by drowing because of that, but we die by suffocating. Kinda weird.

Comment by Elainedel [ 21/Sep/16 ]

Confirmed on Samsung Galaxy Tab 3v (SM T116 NU) with Android Kitkat 4.4.4

Comment by ItsPlantseed [ 17/Sep/16 ]

Well, It makes sense when you suffocate you will lose an air. But it doesn't make any sense when your head are nearby or not inside the block, e.g:

  1. Near by trapdoors,
  2. Under half-slab,
  3. Drowning in lava,
  4. Inside fence gates.
Comment by gatharian [ 16/Sep/16 ]

Confirmed on Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Android 5.0.2
