All issues related to the GUI HUD D-pad controller size being too small (despite the setting in the options that changes the D-pad controller size) have been linked to MCPE-3041.

If you'd like this bug fixed faster, please click vote on MCPE-3041 and provide any new information about this bug as comments on that bug report instead of here. Thanks!

5.5 inch screen. QHD (2560 X 1440).
LG G3 - LG-D855 with Android 4.4.2
Minecraft v0.10.5 apha.

I know it's a issue because I had different smartphones with a similar screen size and the d-pad and the GUI were larger (Samsung Galaxy S3, Bq Aquaris E5 & Motorola Moto G).
The bigger size in the options panel is not big enouth to play, and the item bar and crafting are too small.

I guest it's a problem with new QuadHD screen resolution.

Fixed in 0.7.2

Reopened.

My game pad size settings are maxed out as shown in my attached pictures. The game pad is almost unusable now because I hit more than one direction at a time.

Comment by Dorian Lang [ 07/Jun/13 ]

It's a bug. Since the udpate, even with the dpad size setting at its maximum. (Sorry for poor english)! Please correct this and let us the possibility of setting BIG BIG size controls

Comment by Joshua Stephens [ 07/Jun/13 ]

Just thought I'd say this, its not a bug its a setting. In-game go to your settings and hit the controller there is a setting for dpad size, make yours bigger and you're fine

Comment by Johan Bernhardsson [ 07/Jun/13 ]

You will have more ability to make it bigger in this release.

Comment by Patrick Andersen [ 05/Jun/13 ]

The dpad shrunk on iPad 3 as well. It's still playable, but the buttons are pretty small. DPI is not the problem, because on the 800x600 Craig tablet, the whole dpad is barely taller than the hotbar, but on my 2048x1536 iPad 3, it's more than twice as tall.

Comment by Dorian Lang [ 05/Jun/13 ]

Before the udpate the dpad was 2 times bigger !

Please solve this ! Just bought the game on Ipad 4 but can't play...for this price

Also on iOS as of 0.7.0.

I see. umm go to this link: http://liliputing.com/2013/02/adjust-your-android-phone-tablet-dpi-without-braking-the-play-store.html this might be able to fix your problem.

Yeah, poor wording on my part. I guess I should have said they were also experiencing similar issues and mine might be a duplicate, but there seemed to be little activity on them. But regardless, I'm grateful for Mojang investigating it.

Comment by Sean Schmitt [ 06/Feb/13 ]

Thank you for addressing this Mojang. I don't see how the previous issue (1086) would be considered a 'duplicate' as it was posted a month before this one but as long as the issue is being looked into, I'm not going to nitpick.

Comment by Joel Stephens [ 06/Feb/13 ]

I've attached some pictures. You can see that the entire dpad on the tablet is about the same size as the inventory boxes to the right. It's impossible to just hit one of them when trying to use it. I bought a copy of Minecraft PE for my son and daughter, ages 5 & 8. They both have the same tablets and phones, but the tablet version is too small for even their fingers. My son just plays it on the phone, but my daughter is not getting to play at all, because she doesn't like playing on a 4" screen.

Oh, and MCPE-28 and MCPE-1086 seem to be duplicates

Thanks guys for your time.

Good to hear. I've tried to change the buttons in-game but it has no effect. The tablet also has a zoom function in the status bar but also does nothing. Appreciate the constructive comment.

Comment by [Mojang] Aron Nieminen [ 04/Feb/13 ]

This device probably reports wrong pixel density. It will most likely be "fixed" in next version as in; you can change size of the buttons from an in-game options menu.

Comment by Joel Stephens [ 04/Feb/13 ]

Yeah, but we are not talking about a 9.7" touchpad. On my 10" Galaxy Tab, it looks fine, on a 4" Samsung phone it looks fine, but on the this 7" Craig tablet @ 800x480 resolution, the entire dpad is smaller than one button on the 4" phone, hence the bug report. Each button on the dpad is no bigger than 1/8th inch, while on the phone they are almost a 1/4 inch.

Comment by Jae Yoon Kim [ 03/Feb/13 ]

I don't agree. I use a 9.7" HP TouchPad, 1024x768, running Jelly Bean and I have no problem with the size.

Comment by Joel Stephens [ 03/Feb/13 ]

Then it's a design decision? To have micro size controls on bigger devices? I see the problem on several other tablets, how is it not a bug that the dpad downsizes to where it's barely visible, much less usable.

Comment by Jae Yoon Kim [ 02/Feb/13 ]

This is not a bug.
