 Description

The player floats above the bed at random angles, while the player is in the bed. However, this does not change the actual view of the player, from his perspective.

This typically happens, if it doesn't, try getting out of the bed, back in, and it should show that the player is 'floating'

NOTE: This was on a LAN Server, it has also happened on PMMP(Pocketmine) based servers.

Steps to reproduce

  • Have you and one or more people connect to your world. (Cheats must be enabled)
  • Make sure all players are present for this test. (/tp all players to the player that's testing.)
  • Place down a bed.
  • Set the time in the world to 13000.
Have players one at a time sleep in the bed
  • Right-click or tap on the bed (When someone floats it's usually a specific player.)

I can confirm that this occurs on my Kindle Fire with two friends invited. All are playing vanilla 1.2.10, with no mods or texture packs.

What occurs is when we all go to bed, one of the players now and then will float above the bed instead of being inside the bed. It is always the same player that floats (and it is one of the invited friends). It does not happen all the time and there seems to be no rhyme or reason when it does occur. We cannot replicated for the other player or myself how to float.

We refer to this as the 'flying carpet.'

The "steps to reproduce" might work better without mention of "cheats" just to clarify. Simply "have all players in room" rather than mention TP'ing, or if they simply walk to the location. That way we don't have the confusion of the "cheats" issue as cheats do not appear to impact this particular bug. Thank you for reporting this, though... it really is havoc with "one-player-sleeping" tests.

Just wanna clarify, (cheats must be enabled) is for the /tp command when you want to attempt to reproduce it, not related to the bug.

This is occurring for me and the players on my Realm, and cheats are NOT enabled. We're all currently running 1.2.10

We are using https://youtu.be/6tdBrZ99Ebk on our server, the last version which detects if anyone is "in" the bed during night hours. Sleeping is "best" as it kicks the player out of the bed and stops advancing time. But that only works "properly" if we randomly sleep where the command block expects. About half the time, the player is "sleeping" but NOT detected "within" a bed, so the sleeping player is ignored until they leave sleeping and jump on the bed or try sleeping again.

So in our case, this isn't just "fluff", it impacts our ability to do "one player sleeping" in a multiplayer game. 1.2.8 Realms.

Can confirm that this is still an issue as of 1.2.3.

Cheats are not necessary for this bug to occur.

Happens to me on Realms, LAN Multiplayer and Xbox Live Mutliplayer!

Comment by Spane Boswell [ 03/Oct/17 ]

Not fixed. Whoops.

Comment by tabby cat craft [ 17/Aug/17 ]

This happens to me when I play.

Comment by Tourniquet [ 06/Aug/17 ]

This is NOT fixed in either 1.2.0.2 or 1.2.0.7.

I've got the same problem, occurs on LAN multi-player with other people. Each player is hovering beside or above bed. Does not effect sleeping. Though is noticeable.

affects 1.0.3.0...

Reported for review and fix.

This still happens with a bed. Even without a texture pack.

Comment by kaleb418 [ 31/Jul/16 ]

Does this issue appear with the texture pack removed?
