 Description

When I switching the piston or sticky piston on and off with any block on them, blocks are blinking (visible-invisible-visible).

The block movement renders slightly better in the 1.16 beta.

Comment by AdiSeptiana25 [ 08/Jun/19 ]

Still affects 1.11.4

Comment by Jeffrey [ 07/Jul/18 ]

No, they are noticably faster in 1.2.6 but they did slightly increase after 16.0. But its not that different though.

Never mind, I must've forgotten. It was 1.2.6

Comment by Henry Markle [ 07/Jul/18 ]

No, I don't think so, the pistons became faster after 1.2.6

Comment by Jeffrey [ 07/Jul/18 ]

I think that is because they made pistons faster after 0.16.0 which made it harder for devices to render the piston extension and retraction along with blocks.

Comment by Henry Markle [ 07/Jul/18 ]

It reminds me of the 0.16 release when this bug was fixed the same way, but slightly better, then it came back in the 1.0-second beta release.

The interesting thing is the fix wasn't written in the changelog site.

Edit: Maybe they didn't really mean to fix it at that time, maybe it was accidentally fixed by changing other mechanics, and it came back for the same reason. I don't really know.

Comment by Jeffrey [ 07/Jul/18 ]

Seems to depend on the device. I tested this on W10 and PE. In W10 it was fine even with about 6 pistons moving at the same time but in PE it was like how you described it, it would not render the blocks properly.

Jeffrey, I've tested the latest beta (1.6.0.5) myself, and I do agree with you.

The blocks no longer momentarily become invisible when being moved by a piston/sticky piston, but it comes with a new kinda problem.

Here's the full details:

First thing I'm using Android phone to test the beta.

There's almost no problem when using one piston/sticky to move one block, but when it comes into larger scales like 2*2 piston door, you can barely see the blocks moving, just disappearing and appearing from point (A) to point (B).

It becomes even worse when you cover the piston door and the hole redstone with it.

Probably it's something to do with the performance, and it renders better with higher-end devices.

Whatever the way the devs used to fix the bug it's definitely better.

Thank you.

Comment by Jeffrey [ 06/Jul/18 ]

Seems to be partially fixed in the beta. Only happens when too many of them move.

Comment by Henry Markle [ 05/Jul/18 ]

Was this bug fixed in the 1.5 or 1.6 beta?

Edit: It's really unsatisfing to watch piston machines work with this bug, not like in Java

Comment by Jeffrey [ 27/May/18 ]

Sorry, I misunderstood. You meant that they dont appear for a while, right? I thought it was the short flash of the block when they are moved. My bad.

Comment by Charles Agostini [ 27/May/18 ]

A bug actually is a feature not wanted by developers. So I think it could completely be considered as bug.

Comment by Jeffrey [ 27/May/18 ]

I wouldn't really consider this a bug. There is just a delay when moving blocks, the game has to unload a block then load it in another location. If you ask me this poses no issue nor problems whatsoever. Even java has this split-second delay.

Comment by Nikolaus Stromberg [ 23/Sep/17 ]

I'm still seeing this bug even now after the 1.2 update.. Hope it gets fixed eventually, it makes piston doors and other piston-moving contraptions look sloppy, graphically/immersion wise.
Edit: On PC as well.

https://bugs.mojang.com/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?name=UniqueCrafter Lol, keep calm. https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-12347 this one is way more critical and it exists since the whole MCPE history. (and got worse after 1.2)

Comment by Zeb [ 24/Mar/17 ]

UniqueCrafter, just because something looks simple, doesn't mean it is easy to fix.

Comment by Zeb [ 21/Mar/17 ]

Revised title to be more descriptive.

Comment by Mark Aranzanso [ 18/Mar/17 ]

it became worse as of 1.0.5.13. I placed every different direction of pistons and the east and west position doubles the blocks that pushes it.

Comment by [Bot] Arisa [ 18/Mar/17 ]

Please do not mark unreleased versions as affected.
You don't have access to them yet.

Comment by [MCPE Helper] Aspergerian [ 10/Mar/17 ]

Affects 1.0.4.11.

The only blocks that haven't 'blinked' from what I've noticed, are Chests/Trapped Chests.

Comment by JohnWildTamer [ 04/Mar/17 ]

Confirmed in 1.0.4.1 please fixed this ASAP because this may effect some lag and crash to the game.

Comment by [MCPE Mod] Celesian [ 11/Jan/17 ]

Can confirm for 1.0.0

Comment by Charles Agostini [ 22/Dec/16 ]

on Windows 10 and android too. there are many bugs about pistons in this version :/

Comment by [Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay Wells) [ 21/Nov/16 ]

Reopening, this affects 0.17.0.2 on Samsung TabPro SM-T520 on Android 4.4.2

Comment by Mark Aranzanso [ 30/Aug/16 ]

It is resolved as of 0.16.0 beta 1. Thank You!!

Comment by Zeb [ 27/Aug/16 ]

Confirmed for 0.15.6. (Tested on Windows 10.)

Comment by The Bosshead [ 24/Jul/16 ]

still affects 0.15.3. infact i think its worse than 0.15.2 and it doesn't look like a block for a short amount of time for me

Comment by PHO [ 08/Jul/16 ]

Still affects 0.15.2.

Comment by PHO [ 08/Jul/16 ]

Yes. Still a bug. I will check this on 0.15.2 later.

Comment by Mark Aranzanso [ 07/Jul/16 ]

so what do you mean? is it still a bug?

Comment by PHO [ 07/Jul/16 ]

This is more than just a graphical glitch. That blinking block actually loses its solidness for a short time when the block is being pushed upwards. See MCPE-14882.
