| Description |

When playing, the screen suddenly goes black, stays black for a few seconds before the game crashes and returns me to the home screen. It doesn't seem to be related to anything particular I do in the game, it happens when I'm walking around the world, when I'm mining, when I'm building. If I reload the game after the crash I will have lost 5 or so minutes of progress within the game. It is crashing so often as to make it unplayable! I don't know if it's related but the world doesn't always generate properly either, the screen just goes blue in front of me (like the sky), then when I walk backwards and forwards a few times the world appears bit by bit. Edited to add: problems persist after update. |

Is there any way of getting an older version for the Sony Tablet S so that MCPE can be played on in the mean time? |

I have escalated this issue for a retriage. Hopefully it will be investigated again soon. |

No problem, ya saw them as well, all these new folks downloading the game to find it not working is a major frustration and its so bizarre that this game has such a tremendous amount of bugs that pstches are now the ordinary hoping bugs are fixed with every minor update (ps: I don't think 30 million legit download will make them lose money ha!) still a major and unenjoyable problem though. Unacceptable. |

I'll look into it. Tablet is showing up to date, but will do a little more research online to see if there is anything I can do to bring the tablet to a higher version of android. Thanks for your interest in this problem. Just for info; I was looking at the ratings and comments on the Google Play Store MCPE and there are a lot of people having the same issue. I think the developers of MC are gonna have to start seriously looking into this crash or they are going to loose a lot of money. |

Aha, sorry, I find it difficult sometimes to differ between people joking and not, apolgizes. Now for that I can guild you through it, android is far simpler to upgrade than you might think, as long as your tablet has a decent system, I assume it does since minecraft is quiet consuming. I however have not upgraded as I do not require it or want to overload my phone with a heavier update* updating is extremly easy you may not even need my help just litarly search google how to update (your device brand) to (wanted OS) chances are your system already has a legit upgrade without rooting |
| Comment by Walt Carnes [ 13/Jul/16 ] |
|
Buying a new tablet just to play MC was a sarcastic joke, but the rooting and installing a newer android version is probably beyond my technical expertise. |
| Comment by Khaled Moharram [ 13/Jul/16 ] |
|
Yes thats what I said and I don't think buying anew tablet to play minecraft is an obvious thought but I think you may root your device and install a newer android version |
| Comment by Walt Carnes [ 13/Jul/16 ] |
|
I think the older android version cannot handle the changes in the 15.0 update. like I said; 14.0 worked well on the tablet. It wasn't until the update to 15.0 when the problem started. Guess if I want to play on a bigger screen, I will have to buy a new tablet with a newer version of android. |
| Comment by Khaled Moharram [ 13/Jul/16 ] |

Aha, there is a possibility the game messes up with 4.0 of android, since there is aparantly no other explanation! I mean deleting the intire game and its traces off yours device does delete it entirly so it must be a device sort of issue, or so I think. If you care to, you can message me on skype: Khaledmoharram125 so perhaps we can get a work round this issue, my device is rooted 4.4 maybe that may solve the issue as well. |

I did in above comment, but it is 6.0 |

Tje crash for me didn't occur while generating world rather when actually playing the game online Walt, can you please specify your LG's android version? Have a nice day all, I how ever think this needs more in depth searching and looking, I mean how can the issue or IF the issue occurs on ios as well |
| Comment by Ashley Riddell [ 13/Jul/16 ] |
|
Lets get this back on track! 1. The crash will occur during terrain building or just after loading an existing world. Please post your results here! |

Yeah, It is a shame that so many children spent so many hours, days, months mining and building a world only to have it wiped away with a single tap of the finger. |

And yes I have seen the mcpe forums, many troubled angry parents there only though, shame how such a great game comes out with all these bugs |

Read your topic, pretty interesting, its possible the problem is fixable on 4.4 and isn't on 4.0, there have been many stuff related to this ups and downs with 4.4 so maybe this is just one of them, many people reported deleting files works including my self yet a whole ton of others didn't seem to do very well, sorry for your factory reset though, you shouldn't havd still. Can you pleass tell me your LG's android version, friend? |

Quote:" I how ever encourage you to expirment fixes and trouble shoot it your self, make your own solution! " What do you think I've been doing since updating to 15.0? As I said up to the point of factory reset. I am convinced that the issue is not a problem with my tablet since I have absolutely nothing installed except MCPE. No WiFi, deleted files/folders, no third party apps, no texture packs, etc.... About ready to give up and wait until they come up with a fix..... someday. |
| Comment by Walt Carnes [ 12/Jul/16 ] |
|
No, I meant what I said. I updated from 14.x to 15.0 and that is when the problem started. Sorry I updated my tablet. The game updated and works ok on my LG stylus phone. Just liked playing on the bigger screen of the tablet. |
| Comment by Khaled Moharram [ 12/Jul/16 ] |
|
Walt, I assume you ment downgrade and thats fairly reasonable but ios users simply don't have this feature and I really belive there is a work around this bug as I have done, could you care to tell me your device model? |

I've tried all the methods mentioned as well, to the point of factory reset and reinstall ONLY MCPE. Deleting files and folders and launching without WiFi connected. I have tried every suggestion mentioned without success. Something changed in the 15.0 update that is causing the problem. Sorry I updated. I had rather be able to play the game instead of having pistons and horses. |

No sir, I didn't mean to dismiss your openion at all. I just wanted to say that all black screen crashes that aren't in 0.15.0 are different and fixable, mostly caused by user error but not a major bug, maybe avoidable still isn't something to acknowledge. In 0.15.0 however this black screen bug is purely from the game and is un fixable in most cases, dev's fault, I have not encountered any major bugs like this in previous updates but this one so have most people thats all I wanted to say simply any black screen issue not in 0915 isn't exacly a fatel problem. Thank you for reading |

My Samsung SII has 0.15 now. My point was I finally got it to work with 0.14 and then upgraded to 0.15 and now I'm experiencing these issues as well. Please don't dismiss my comments about .13 and .14 as irrelevant as I was merely giving my background on this. I've tried the items listed in this bug, 8332 and another (yes, there are others regarding this same issue and other "black screen issues") and nothing has worked. The one thing that's different than 0.13 and 0.14 for me is now it will drop me back to the Android screen sometimes - usually generating an uploadable crash report. As it stands, I will NOT upgrade my Samsung Tab 2 (Android 4.0.4) to 0.15 as I know it's likely to break as well now. |

I've tried all these methods - except for a factory reset on my Samsung SII which my daughter used to play. I started having issues and posted on I wish they would get this working again for Android 4.0.4 as that is all my daughter has and she has been upset since she used her own money to purchase this. |

@waltcarnes Very sorry it didn't work for me, it some how did for my self, I understand your frustration. Try uninstalling then re installing, clearing game data.. Etc the update does work. It just conflicts with something that ruins the game, sorry mate |

@rplatham I have loaded 0.15.2.1 on my new Huawei P9 and my Samsung S4 running 4.2.2 it works fine loaded from the Amazon store. So I think the argument of using Google Play vs Amazon is rubbish. It's still not working on the Galaxy Tab 3 which runs 4.4.2. I'm looking to do an update but there aren't any official updates for the Galaxy Tab 3. |

UPDATE: Have discovered that this problem occurs when the device is connected to the net. If either 1) no internet available or 2) Multiplayer and LAN options are turned off, then the game will load and play. Would be interested if this problem can be replicated now! |

Kevin, The black screen only stays on for a few seconds before going back to the tablet home screen or the google play screen (which ever the game was launched from). Even though it appears to be running in the background (open Apps), it never loads. I have let it sit for over an hour and the game never loaded. If I tap the icon in the running apps, I get the same results. a black screen for a few seconds then back to the tablet home screen. Khaled, Tried that also with the same results. I have tried deleting the files you have suggested. Still no can play. It has something to do with the 15.0 update causing the problem. They need to look at the things they added or changed in 15.0. 14.x worked great. Had I known, I would not have updated to 15.0. |

I have a possible solution that worked for me and I was very happy with it. Now please note that you will end up deleting your intire progress, I don't know if backing up your worlds will fix the issue it didn't matter to me just relize you its very likely you delete it all without results as many people have already claimed they did. You have been warned. |

Have a few Nook HD 7" running KitKat and Lollipop and a Kindle Fire HD and all of them have extreme slowness when loading MCPE. Just sit at the black screen for 2 minutes but will eventually load. This never happened with 0.14.x or 0.15.0.50 and only started with 0.15.1 and 0.15.2. It also crashes with a black screen every time we switch apps. Works fine on Samsung S6... |

TheLambClan your native AppStore on the Samsung Galaxy Tab3 should be the Google Play Store. Running MCPE from the Amazon AppStore would not work properly. I recommend refunding the purchase, purchasing MCPE from your device's native AppStore and trying again. See the comments on |

Bought the game for my son on his Asus tablet, and it worked great for 2 weeks. The latest update causes Minecraft PE to no longer run. Rebooted, cleared cache, uninstalled/reinstalled and the game still will not start. Please fix, or at least give a way to sideload previous versions. |

Ever since the 0.15 update, MCPE won't open on my son's Galaxy Tab 10 GT-P7510 (Android 4.0.4). It goes to a blackscreen for 10 secs or so and then back to the homescreen. We deleted all files, uninstalled, reinstalled, and also uninstalled any related apps that might interfere - everything we could think of. Nothing works. He can't play with his friends any more, this has been going on for weeks and is really affecting his life. |

Running 0.15.1.2 from the Amazon App Store on Samsung Galaxy Tab3 GT-P5210 running 4.4.2 The app just starts and then says "Unfortunately, Minecraft - Pocket Edition has stopped". It doesn't even open into the splash screen or anything. Have tried un-installing and re-installing, removing the /game directory/ removing any other traces of mojang on the tablet without success. Updates on iOS (iPad & iPhone) devices are fine, but on Android it crashes immediately. |

I have a black screen on my daughter's Samsung tab 3, it was working fine before the update. |

No, but if you look at the Minecraft forums, there are several people having the same issue on several different devices. I have the game loaded on my LG phone and it seems to be working ok. It's just better to play on the tablet. |

That's even worse. Can you reproduce the crash on any other devices? |
| Comment by Walt Carnes [ 01/Jul/16 ] |

Don, I have no worlds. I deleted ALL files associated with the game, reinstalled from scratch and still will not launch. Game worked fine until updating to 15.0. |

This happened to me before, in version 0.12.1. It happened only on one of my worlds though, and that world was corrupted. |

Same issue. when tapping the MCPE icon, screen goes blank for a few seconds then back to the tablet home screen. No menu, no errors, just black screen. This is not the same issue as reported because we are unable to even access the game and only happened recently when updating to 15.0 and/or 15.1. Sony tablet S |

I am also experiencing this problem in MCPE 0.15.1.2 on a Motorola Xoom tablet. I've followed all the trouble-shooting steps on Google Play Store and Mojang, and nothing has helped. Whether from the home screen on the tablet, the MCPE page in the Google Play Store, or from the app list in the tablet, opening the Minecraft: Pocket Edition application results in a black screen with no error message. After the black screen, I'm sent back to whatever screen I was just on (home screen, Google Play Store, or app list). I just want to play again. |

I've just tried it on 0.15.0 made it to about 3 minutes before the screen went black and kicked me off again so it is still happening. |
