 Description

Having bread, wheat, sugar, apples, golden apples, or enchanted golden apples makes horses, mules, and donkeys follow you.

To reproduce: Have bread, wheat, sugar, apples, golden carrots, golden apples, or enchanted golden apples on hand makes horses, mule, or donkey follow you.

This no longer affects

  • Potatoes.
  • Beetroot

Affects

  • Carrot
  • Carrot on a stick
  • Golden carrot
  • Bread
  • Wheat
  • Hay Bale
  • Apple
  • Golden Apple
  • Enchanted golden Apple
  • Sugar

Carrots are the only one that seems to affect horses

Horses, mules, or donkeys should not follow player when they have food on hand because it makes the leads useless and different from Java and Console version.

I discovered that Mules and Donkeys as of 1.17.2 still follow you when holding bread. you cannot feed them but they still follow you.

(Fixed in an earlier version)

Yes tamed horses, donkey, mules will follow you while holding any of the above items. I was just saying in pc java you can feed them bread. Or they changed it? But yes they shouldn't follow you. It's only tamed horses etc.

Sorry, in 1.0.0 on Window 10, horse still follow you when you're holding bread, wheat,... I think the issue still going on.

In 1.0.0 newly spawned horses will not follow you when you're holding food. However, Donkeys and Mules still follow.

Reported for a fix.

No horses are not suppose to eat bread according to the official Minecraft Wiki. Horses are not suppose to follow you even if you have any type of food on hand like wheat or apples. Having horses follow player when having food on hand makes the lead useless since its more easier to obtain.

Horses are suppose to eat bread aren't they? I know wheat and apples attract horses,Wheat is not a bug. The carrot on a stick is too funny!

This issue no longer affects potato or beetroot. The description has been updated to reflect this.

noticed this as well. Also horses follow you if you are holding bread.
