 Description

In Minecraft Windows 10 Edition pressing the Esc key on my keyboard doesn't close the chat. I have to press Esc twice to close it. The chat should just close when I press Esc once. This creates a problem when chatting, then something sneaks up on you and closing chat isn't so responsive.

Steps to reproduce

  • Type T to open chat.
  • Press Esc because you want the chat to close.
Since chat didn't close the first time, you have to press Esc again!

Confirmed with 0.15.10 - It is not just the Escape key though. I occasionally hit "E" to go into my inventory and it does nothing. I occasionally hit the space bar to jump, and it does nothing. I can be just walking around and the "Game Menu" will just pop up. I don't know if this is related but occasionally the mouse stops responding for a brief moment.

OK I can see what you mean I think this Works As Intended

As part of the newer chat features implemented in 0.14.2. It's not that the keyboard isn't responsive, it's just that pressing escape once removes the cursor, and pressing again exits the chat gui.

Edit: I have tested further and can see that it sometimes takes several presses of the esc key to get it to respond!

I'm still not sure that this relates to MCPE-10353

I can confirm this as well.

This was on multiplayer lan. This can be duplicated in single player too.

Did you find this happened on single player and LAN multiplayer or on servers?
I ask because I found the chat was particularly buggy when connected to external servers, but OK on lan, so wondered if it was a server side issue.
