 Description

What happens:

  1. In a survival game, any difficulty setting, put on any helmet that has a respiration enchantment applied to it.
  2. Go underwater and wait for your air bubbles to run out
  3. Observe the game crash

Original Report:
When I'm underwater the game locks up on me, then crashes. When I relaunch the game all my progress since my last save/login is lost. The exception is my inventory. It's exactly the same as before the crash. My hunch is it's crashing when the game is trying to save to the disk.

Still an issue that affects 0.15.3 and 0.15.4.

Confirmed on v0.15.1 Windows 10 Edition Beta. Drowned whilst trying to collect squid dye, re-spawned and attempted to retrieve my lost items and drowned twice more (attempted to use torches to create air pockets as well as a bucket to no avail). The last time I grabbed a leather helmet with Respiration 2. The game crashed upon running out of air. I reloaded the world several times (after switching the difficulty to easy) each with varying times before a hard crash. Also upon reloading the world once, I decided to check my inventory (which was filled with duplicated worn armor). Now every time I open the world, the result is a hard crash. Rest in peace.

Confirmed on 0.15.1 Windows 10. Wearing a Resp 3 diamond helmet, when the air runs out underwater, just before your hearts start to go down, the game crashes and closes.

Confirmed on Samsung Galaxy S4 on MCPE 0.15.1

Tested with Respiration III on full difficulty, 0.15.1 release. Can confirm.

I just did a test on a new world, using version 0.15.1 alpha 1 on my Samsung S5. The game crashed using respiration 1. If i didn't use it, the game worked fine.

I am afraid we can not reproduce this bug in the recent version. Please update affected versions if this bug still occurs.

It does still affect 0.14.3. I did some more testing. I was able to reproduce it on a new world, going to the bottom of the ocean and once I run out of air the game would crash. So I tried it with just a Respiration helmet. Same problem with all three levels of respiration. Then I tried it without a helmet. The game still crashed once I ran out of air. I changed the difficulty to easy, It still crashed but took a bit longer. The only time the game didn't crash is when I went into creative mode.

Does this still affect 0.14.3?

To recover, try changing the difficulty to easy. Between your helmet and the heart regeneration rate from easy you should be able to avoid dying (and thus not need to swim up immediately) giving a bit more time to debug. The crashing may be because your player is entering a chunk that has bad data. Thus, with dying no longer a problem, see if you could swim down/away from that area to avoid the constant crashing.

An update to my previous comment. It's not while the game is saving. Currently my char is 20 blocks under water trying to swim up. I've run out of air and my hearts are starting to disappear. I'm wearing a helmet with respiration 1 and every second or so the game crashes. The problem didn't start happening till I had 4 bubbles of air left. Once it got there the game started to crash every few seconds. Unable to swim up because it's not able to recognize that my character has moved.
