Minecraft Pocket Edition is not allowing older generation devices such as the iPad Mini 1st generation to connect to external servers. As soon as your try to login it will say that you cannot connect to the world. On the server console it acknowledges that the player has attempted to connect to the server and it says that the player has disconnected due to timeout on the server console. |

Can you confirm that the older devices have the same version of MCPE as the server? Some older devices may not be able to update to the latest version, and to connect to servers your game must have the same version of MCPE that the server is running. |

This might be because Mojang is planning to remove support for older devices |
