I have setup a minecraft server, which is reachable from anywhere on the internet. I have used some online testing services such as this one: https://dinnerbone.com/minecraft/tools/status/ And the server is running just fine. But when i try to connect to this server from both my iPhone and iPad, no traffic at all is generated towards the server (i am dumping all traffic on the server side). |

This issue is invalid. If you have a request for Minecraft Pocket Edition, please go to the Minecraft Forums -> MCPE: Suggestions. |

I have the same problem described here: I bought four PC licenses and am playing on my (classic) server (version 1.8.9) just fine. I also bought it on iPhone (6s+) and iPad (retina 2013) and tried to connect to that same server (with version 0.14.0), but there is simply no connection attempt made by the app. I have tried specifying the hostname or IP of the server, with the same result. I also tried changing the server’s port to 19132 (which is offered by default on the mobile devices) without effect. Since it does not even try to connect I am not sure how running a different server program can change the behavior. Is this not supposed to work? This was an important reason for spending quite a bit of money, and the description of the PocketEdition lets me believe that it should allow my kids to play together on the server. |

I finally got it... There is in fact a specific server software for Minecraft PE clients, it's PocketMine-MP. Still can't play, as i get an "Outdated server error", apparently i should get the latest version from: http://jenkins.pocketmine.net/job/PocketMine-MP/Development/ but the site seems to be down for the moment, i will wait for updates. Hope this helps someone else, i guess this bug can be closed. |

I am pretty sure is has nothing to do with the router / port forwarding. I do networking for a living https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/versions/1.8.9/minecraft_server.1.8.9.jar which resides on the internet (aws to be more precise). Is this something possible? If not, is there a minecraft server version that i can install which supports pocket clients? |

Are you sure that you router does the port forwarding thing/configured properly? You have to disable DHCP for that and use static ip address, otherwise portforwarding ofrten would be miss alligned. Also it seems to me that you trying to connect to a pc server from pocket client, which obviously wont work |

Just double checked, i can access the server without any issues using the PC version. With the Pocket edition, i have tried on iPhone, iPad and Android on the exact same LAN, no packet ever reaches the server, although IP address and Port are properly configured. |
