 Description   

After exiting out of game via esc while falling in the nether, upon returning to the game rather that continuing to fall to player death ended up 'falling' out above the nether.

It was after being knocked off a cobblestone "bridge" built above normal
nether rack below...when the world was reloaded there was some health
damage, a lose of several levels and the character was 'stuck' above the
nether standing on the usual bedrock found there, thus having no way to
escape.

That also happens when you are ABOUT to die.
I hitted the escape and returned to the home screen, after rejoining i was on a safe place. I fell into lava because a ghast shot me, no idea if that helps.

Hi Christopher. Can you elaborate a bit more. Did you die? When you "fall out above the nether" are you in the nether above bedrock, or are you in the overworld.

I'm pretty sure this is a specific case of MCPE-10858: if you quit a game when the player is falling above stationary lava or stationary water with solid blocks above, then the player is respawned ontop of those solid blocks instead of in the same place he or she left the world.
