 Description

Game crashes when trying to connect a 3rd player when all 3 are using iPad mini.

Very infrequently, all 3 can connect and play.

Only seems to occur when all 3 players are using iPad.

3 iPads = crash on iPad #3 (and sometimes also crash on iPad #2)
2 iPads + 1 iPhone = works
1 iPad + 2 iPhones = works
3 iPhones = works
2 iPads = works

Verified as fixed in 0.15.4.

... just in time for a big family car trip. Thank you!!!

  • Connected all four of our iPad minis + one iPhone without problem.

Please respond and add the current version if you can reproduce this issue.

I have likely a same device. I don't have 3 but...

What happend with 4-way multiplayer with a same device?

Curious what the status is on this. Were you able to reproduce?

Thanks tinclon that is helpful. It seems that a possible common denominator (with the exception of the second combination) is local multiplayer with 2 iPad minis as clients is crashing one or more of the iPad mini clients. No clue why, yet.

Sure. All iPads are the model A1489 iPad mini 2. So, don't have a 'more powerful' device to use as host.

Tried these combinations, though:

  • Any of the iPads as host. iPad #2 connects fine. iPad #3 tries to connect, game crashes.
  • iPhone 4 as host. iPad #1 connects fine. iPad #2 connects fine. iPad #3 tries to connect, game crashes, and iPad #2 is disconnected. iPad #1 is still connected.
  • iPhone 4 as host. iPad #1 connects fine. iPad #2 tries to connect, game crashes and iPad #1 is disconnected.
  • iPhone 4 as host. iPad #1 connects fine. iPhone 6 connects fine. iPad #2 tries to connect, game crashes on both iPad #1 and iPad #2.
  • iPhone 6 as host. iPad #1 connects fine. iPad #2 connects fine. iPad #3 tries to connect, crashes. iPad #1 also crashes. iPad #2 remains connected.
  • iPhone 6 as host. iPad #1 connects fine. iPhone 4 connects fine. iPad #2 connects for a moment, iPad #1 crashes, then iPad #2 crashes. iPhone 4 remains connected.

Let me know if you'd like me to try any other combinations using iPad minis as mentioned, or iPhone 4, 5, 6, or 6S.

Another Interesting scenario:

  • iPhone 4 as host (least powerful device). iPhone 6 connects fine. iPhone 5 connects fine. iPhone 6S connects fine. Another iPhone 4 connects fine. Five connected iPhones, all connected, working, and playable.
    • Then; disconnect the second iPhone 4, connect iPad #1. Works fine.
    • Then; disconnect the iPhone 6S, connect iPad #2. iPad #1 crashes out, then iPad #2 crashes out.

Thanks.

Thanks Tinclon. Can you please provide more details about the 3 iPads (i.e. which generation are they?) so we have an idea of the system resources. Can you also try hosting the game from the most powerful device and see if you can connect 3 or more devices to the same world in this manner?

... all four of my kids would like to play at the same time. So once it's working for 3 players, please also ensure it works for 4 players
