[MCPE-11977] Inventory Clearing in Multiplayer Created: 06/Dec/15  Updated: 30/Jan/16  Resolved: 09/Dec/15

Status: Resolved

Affects Version/s: 0.13.0
Fix Version/s: None

Type: Bug

Resolution: Invalid Votes: 0

Confirmation Status: Unconfirmed
Platform: Phone - Android - Motorola Nexus 6

 Description

When playing on MCPE with my brother, there is such a thing as real world responsibilities for which we must leave the world. What also may happen is a game will crash or a battery will die or an apocalypse will occur but a world will be closed and a game will be stopped nonetheless. When the world is reopened, my inventory will sometimes be cleared, with the items not in a chest or on the ground. My armor, with its enchants and damage values and names, is still on me, strangely enough.

What I expected to happen was when I rejoined the world I would have my items.

What actually happened was when I rejoined the world I did not have my items.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open world
2. Have items
3. Close the world
4. Open world
5. You may or may not have your items. You will still have your armor.

Extra Notes:
The world is always hosted on a Samsung Galaxy S4, Android 5.1
The items, when lost, are always lost by a player on a Nexus 6, Android 6.0
There may be a correlation between if either the host or the joiner (or both) have restarted their phone in between openings of the world
This bug may be specific to survival

If you put items in a chest and it crashes , there is a chance that the game saves the items in the chest but not saves the fact that they are not in your inventory. When you come back on , the items are both in the chest and in your inventory!

When game crashes due to battery dying and it is not properly closed the inventory will not be saved properly.
It depends on a lot of factors but the process of "saving" your inventory could take even 30 seconds. If your game crashes during this process, your inventory will not be saved.
World is not saved in the same process so some things will be saved and some will not. This is not a bug. The game is not able to predict your device crashing or running out of batter and it is not able to constantly save the progress at every point in the game.

I'm pretty sure you're not doing this, but make sure you haven't converted the world between creative and survival. Converting survival to creative erase your player's inventory except for armor. Returning to survival you'll have nothing but your armor.
