Trapped chests don't power Redstone wires or any block that can be powered by Redstone. In other words, the trapped chest doesn't work.

This is not the tracker for the Console Edition, but the tracker for Minecraft: Pocket Edition for Android, iOS and Windows 10. Click here to get to the Minecraft: Console Edition tracker.

You are obviously not listening to my description of the problem. This is undeniably a bug that needs to be fixed and have tested it personally on ps3, Xbox one, and PC. The console versions are bugged and absolutely working differently than the PC version. The number of players looking in the chest does not affect signal strength on console. The chest is only giving a minimal signal on console and not working as intended. If I could post a video here I would happily show you the problem...

Paimei0124 - Apart from one redstone issue (MCPE-14083) the trapped chests are working correctly and As Intended, the more players that are viewing the inventory of the chest strengthens the signal, as described on the wiki page and depicted here:

This is how they work in the latest Java version too.

Not fixed... I will keep going until you update the status. I am tired of being ignored. Update the status. It is not fixed. I have all day to do this and I am not giving up...

So... Ummm... Is anyone monitoring this anymore? Where is the moderators??? Anyone???

Comment by Chris Segrest [ 21/Aug/17 ]

This is not fixed... The chest is not working the way it originally did and is not working the way it does on PC. If you have to hook a repeater directly to the chest it totally defeats the purpose of the trap if a player can glance at it and swear it off because the redstone connection is obvious. Please please fix this... It worked perfectly until the last dlc and now it is useless. The PC version still works fine but all console versions are screwed up and have been for four bug patch updates now. I cannot stress this enough. The weak signal is not going to work... Please help??

Paimei0124 What seems to be the problem?

Comment by Chris Segrest [ 18/Aug/17 ]

This is absolutely not fixed and needs to be patched or the cross platform deal is not gonna be compatible with Pc

@rcrick4@gmail.com Oops, I didn't know that. You're right, it indeed works that way. "Fixed" in 0.14.0 alpha.

Comment by Ryan Crick [ 21/Feb/16 ]

Trapped chests do work, but they produce a very weak signal that goes 1 block. To strengthen the signal, place a repeater right next to it and you will be able to make a bigger trap.

Confirmed on iOS 9 and Android 5.0.2

I investigated this on 0.13.0 / iOS. An activated trapped chest:

  • should, but currently does not power any adjacent redstone dust, including beneath the chest.
  • should, but does not strongly-power a solid opaque block beneath it.
  • does activate any mechanism components, including above or below as expected. You can easily confirm this by placing a TNT right beside a chest and then open it and run away.
  • weakly-powers a solid opaque block beneath it. You can confirm this by building a circuit shown in trapped-chest-weakly-powers-a-block.png and then open the chest and run away.
