What I wanted to and what happened: Trying to make sense of the issue: To make this bug occur: I made 12 pistons push me around to get me 6 blocks/meters up (I.e. 6 pistons facing upwards and 6 piston pointing inwards/pushing me around). Furthermore, I made the mechanism so that the 12 pistons would extend at exact one redstone tick after the previous piston extended. The fourth part of the screenshot explains the mechanism. Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue. Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been deliviered. |

I think it's worth noticing that whatever I changed my graphics settings to didn't affect the result at all. I have a pretty decent computer that runs Minecraft smoothly with lots of things going on at the same time. However, closing most programs/processes and additionally reducing all graphics settings to the lowest setting did not affect the result, ergo, unless pistons create a humongous amount of rendering computations, compared to all other programs on my computer, that is not likely the issue here. Edit: I think the bug explained in the youtube video on hitboxes (comments above) seems more likely to be causing the glitch. |

As explained in a comment the original reddit post, this may have to do with rendering speed. (Quote of comment below) "I think this might have to do with render speed and computation, especially if you have OpenGL on. You see... when a piston extends there are a lot of things that need to happen quickly or else you will end up getting stuck in it. If your game is not running quickly or struggling to render the surroundings, then you are more likely to glitch out. By looking down, you greatly reduce the amount of rendering your computer needs to do so it can more accurately deal with piston extensions." To support the render speed theory, when I try to fly in creative mode, I often cannot double tap space right when I am experiencing lag client-side. I can achieve flight by either looking straight up or straight down, depending on where I am and where the lag is coming from. As I look up or down, the lag is reduced on my computer and I can double tap space at the correct speed to toggle flight. In SP, your computer is running the internal server that renders and runs the pistons, whereas in MP, the server calculates the pistons. I agree that this can be counted as a bug and should be fixed, although the problem may stem from different sources. tl;dr: The pistons will not work right if you are lagging client-side, looking down reduces the amount that needs to be rendered and reduces client-side lag. I agree that this is a bug. |

Yes, but the map is too large for your 10 mb limit so I uploaded it to mega.co.nz instead: https://mega.co.nz/#!IE8EEAqK!SZDBpWLKW0m15PtIAkMdCHTdQQFgXreI-OCqf04plwE Also the coordinates are approx x:500, z: -525, I guess you should be able to recognize my contraption from the screenshot. |

Are you able to provide a test world with a setup to test this bug? |

Due to some tips from the people at reddit I now think I know why this bug happens. I think that the issue is due to each pistons hitbox updates dependant on the piston I look at, which means that if I looked at a piston facing a particular direction, all pistons seems to update dependant on that pistons direction. I'd like to refer to a video on youtube that reddit people showed me: |

Here's the screenshot. I couldn't make the screenshot uploader work so I attached it as a file instead. |
