| Description |

When scaling a map with a crafting table, shift-clicking won't apply the correct scaling level. Picking it up without shift-clicking scales it at the correct level. What I expected to happen was...: What actually happened was...: Steps to Reproduce: EDIT: A video was created by Mike B to showcase the bug in 13w03a, thanks. http://youtu.be/eP9SSYwDOKc EDIT 2: Just tested in 1.6.2, now when shift-clicking, it says on the tooltip "(Level 1/4)" but it's still on the scale level 0. If try to scale it again, it just stays on "(Level 1/4)" and doesn't scale. EDIT 3: 3 years and months after I posted this bug, it's still isn't fixed. Wow! I'm getting older, so is the bug. Can't we get it fixed already? Seriously, it's been there since Minecraft 1.4.1 and when the bug tracker was launched. Shows sometimes how ineffective this bug tracker is. As of right now, 56 duplicates have been posted, which is a lot. This needs to be forwarded to the Mojang team ASAP, so it can be fixed. We are now in 1.9.1 pre-release 3, just tested it, and it's still bugged. Probably will be or is one of the oldest bugs posted here that hasn't been fixed. EDIT 4: Fixed the english because I'm a retard. Too much EDITs : Looking through the comments again and I just saw that a comment, posted by Tobias Kamphuis a long time ago, linked a video of someone doing a let's play. While playing, he experienced this bug. It's a old version of Minecraft, but it's still relevant : https://youtu.be/Dp-Ecc86ICU?t=5m51s . Lost 8 paper in the the process. Imagine what would of happened if he scaled maps in a rapid succession... |

No, I didn't press any number keys, I just closed the inventory. There was also no duplication, the item jumped from one slot into another. |

I can confirm this on 1.8.9. Have wasted so much paper that I spent precious time farming just because I accidentally shift clicked while zooming out a map instead of simply clicking. Punishing the user for a simple mis-click. |

This recently started happening to me in my SMP world when I got to just over 200 maps (202). Now when I surround a map with paper, the output map ID is the same as the input map ID. Interestingly though, it does create a map_2xx.dat file. I can also continue to create new maps, I just cannot resize them. This is in stock 1.8.8. |

I can still confirm this for 1.6.2 (ever since 1.5.7), have lost a whole stack of paper and filling up our server with useless map numbers. Can it get fixed at some point, or at least prevent shift-clicking? |
| Comment by Doug Lambert [ 28/Jun/13 ] |
|
haven't had this problem until the last two snapshots for 1.6+1.6pre release, now its rather annoying, hope it gets fixed soon |
| Comment by Steve [ 22/Jun/13 ] |

Okay, so I have updated the Affects Versions with the recent snapshot 13w25c and I hope this will be fixed for 1.6. This bug still occurs on the snapshot 13w25c. |

Tobias: I think Cube is agreeing with you, not Nobel. |
| Comment by Tobias Kamphuis [ 02/Jun/13 ] |
|
Cube, i was aware of it but he said this wasn't a bug. |
| Comment by [Mod] CubeTheThird [ 02/Jun/13 ] |
|
This is true. To clone a map, simply place your map with an empty one in the crafting table (see Minecraft wiki for details). |
| Comment by Tobias Kamphuis [ 01/Jun/13 ] |
|
Nobel Harvards, it IS a bug because you dont even get a copy if you do this, you only get the same map back and lose 8 paper. |
| Comment by Tobias Kamphuis [ 29/Mar/13 ] |
|
I can confirm this in 1.5.1 |

Can we get a confirmation of whether this happens in 13w10a and an update to the affected versions? |
| Comment by eleazzaar [ 26/Feb/13 ] |
|
Still exists in 13w09a. Pretty annoying. I tend to shift-click by default since normally it doesn't hurt. |
| Comment by Steve [ 22/Jan/13 ] |
|
Long time that this is up and it is still not fixed. Oh well. Thanks for the video Mike B, i'll put that in the description. |
| Comment by Mike B [ 22/Jan/13 ] |
|
This bug still occurs in the most recent snapshot (13w03a). Video Proof: http://youtu.be/eP9SSYwDOKc Clicking and dragging scaled map produces a different result than shift-clicking a scaled map. |
| Comment by Andrew Mancini [ 09/Jan/13 ] |
|
Found this bug too (version 1.4.7). Tried to scale Map #1 out. Expected to receive Map #2 (scaled out version of Map #1). Instead I received Map #1 (all eight paper were still used in the process). Confused, I tried a few more times. Finally, by regularly dragging the map into my inventory, I received Map #6. I will post a video if requested. |
| Comment by Chalmes (Jon) [ 12/Nov/12 ] |
|
Hmmm, still an issue for sure, and very inconsistent. Logging out and back in again to cause the data to be written out and read back in gave me a map that insisted it was still scale level 0/4, but when shift-clicked out of the crafting window after attempting to scale out again, gave me something that said 2/4, which wouldn't render the world, and is in fact still scale level 0/4 anyway. |

Is this still a concern on Minecraft 1.4.4 Pre-Release? If so, please update the affected versions. |

I've tried this too, it happens every 2 out of 3 times you shift click it. |
| Comment by Steve [ 25/Oct/12 ] |
|
Yes, I know you can just drag it in your inventory but if you shift-click by mistake, you will lose 8 papers. |
| Comment by Chalmes (Jon) [ 24/Oct/12 ] |
|
Can confirm that the bug exists. The tool tip in the workbench window doesn't get updated to reflect the new scale level, and you wind up with the old scale level when you shift-click. Only by clicking and dragging to your inventory and releasing does the map get updated with the new scale. |
| Comment by [Mod] CubeTheThird [ 24/Oct/12 ] |
|
I have a feeling this may be related to a bug that's been around for a while. In previous versions, shift-clicking when making a map would result in the a duplicate of map_0. |
