 Description

It's only me on the server. If I'm doing anything (or not doing anything for that matter) I will get disconnected between 3-10 mins. It doesn't immediately disconnect me either, it will start lagging at first, then disconnect me. In the server log it says "2013-01-24 21:15:18 [INFO] HDlowrider lost connection: disconnect.genericReason"
On the client it changes it up most of the time but this time it showed: "Internal Exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection Reset"

EDIT: CPU usage is around 9%-15%

Resolved on OP's request.

This was produced by my internet rather then Minecraft. After I hard reset my router and modem, I could connect again. If this issue persists after you tried that, please create your own issue page.

It would be appreciated if this issue was closed.

This still happens with 1.5.1. I don't see an option for me to update affected versions, however; perhaps the submitter needs to.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Server error log with this same error.

I am experiencing this same problem with Minecraft v1.5 over a wireless LAN (should be no communication over the internet). The server is on another computer in a Windows domain - a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine running Java 7 64-bit with 8GB of RAM, with Vanilla Minecraft 1.5 - all with no mods of any sort whatsoever. The files are running off a RAID 10 array, so disk reads should not be an issue. The clients are connecting via a wifi LAN, but not with any Intel chips (they're all Atheros). Put in exceptions for Windows firewall for javaw and all the other files, but to no avail. Disabled Windows firewall over domain networks, also to no avail. Running Minecraft in Single Player / localhost on the client (Windows 7 x64) runs perfectly, but in multiplayer over wireless LAN the client is dropped every 30 seconds - 5 minutes from the server. Attaching server error log.

I've seen a brand new laptop which has the same issue. I believe it's due to the Wifi Chipset (Intel 6235) causing sporadic network drop-outs – see http://communities.intel.com/thread/31090

Assuming you have the same Wifi chip, it's not a bug with Minecraft but with the Wifi drivers.

I've seen this problem come an go on my server. The problem seems to be linked to file io. When the disk is doing heavy reads, the Minecraft Server does a lot of disconnects. The heavy reads don't have to be part of the Minecraft Server process in order for this to take place. It just seems like a hardware limitation on certain platforms.

I am sorry to say this, but it seems to be your internet connection, unless you are running a localhost server, in which case I do not know the cause.
