 Description

If you name an item in an anvil that can be placed such as cobblestone, placing the item and breaking it makes the item not named anymore. For example, if I named a torch, "The awesome torch", then I placed and broke the named torch, the name would be reset back to its default name.

that's because they don't support strings and it would be to much data, but it is a bug that renamed command blocks, furnaces, chests and hoppers don't keep their when you destroy them after you've placed them.
