 Description

In a server those who join and have low or unstable ping or rates (sometimes even in LAN connections) do not receive the proper knockback that is normal. This can lead to players having unequal abilities and is unfair in PVP matches. This can cause problems with knockback generating devices such as player TNT cannons and knockback-enchanted weapons.

I have experienced this in the LAN world I open to my friends, they can knock me back a full 1.5 blocks without sprinting, but I can hardly knock them back a single block. This created an issue that when locked in head to head PVP, my friend is able to hit me far more easily than I can hit him.

This problem varies a lot, sometimes severe and sometimes none at all.
This problem may be an issue that cannot be solved as well.

This problem still is apparent in the 1.12 on a vanilla server with knockback-enchanted items, when the player receiving the knockback is at a high click speeds. There are over 10.000 videos on youtube by PvP players on this: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=knockback+reduction

Problem is far less noticeable in Minecraft 1.8. Could be considered fixed as of version 1.8.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.8.1 Prerelease 3 / Launcher version 1.5.3 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Yes this is very much still a concern as of 14w18b. It impacts Minecraft PvP, and PvP servers greatly.

Relates to and combines with another knockback bug listed here MC-52881

Edited summary to make issue a little clearer.

This is not a duplicate. Im talking about regular melee damage how the host cannot sometimes properly knock back the joining player, this has nothing to do with fishing rods or other throwable entities.
