it doesn't matter now, there were 2 solutions, WAI or Invalid, they chose invalid because like said above:
'Works as Intended' falsely implies that axes /can/ only recieve one combat enchantment.

Comment by aidan pallian [ 22/Jun/14 ]

maybe its a WAI though, it'd be unfair to have both a shaprness and critical damage towards a species

@aidan pallian
this is only talked about axes, they spoke of swordts because he was attaching sword enchantment to an axe

Comment by aidan pallian [ 22/Jun/14 ]

it also happens when trying to combine two of the same enchantments

Comment by aidan pallian [ 22/Jun/14 ]

Its swords, not axes!

I see... My mistake.

Good point.

This bug is not 'Works as Intended' it's 'Invalid'. I've just made an axe with flame, smite and knockback, all of which are combat enchantments. 'Works as Intended' falsely implies that axes /can/ only recieve one combat enchantment.

From the Minecraft Wiki:
"A sword with Sharpness cannot receive Smite or Bane of Arthropods."

Comment by [Mod] Torabi [ 23/Jan/13 ]

Sharpness, Smite, and Bane of Arthropods are all mutually exclusive, regardless of the tool or enchanting method.

Comment by Oscar Parker [ 17/Jan/13 ]

Sorry, true.

Comment by Mike [ 17/Jan/13 ]

Bane of Arthropods and Smite can be applied to axes.

Comment by Oscar Parker [ 17/Jan/13 ]

I believe Bane of Arthropods and Smite are sword-only enchantments, and thus can't be applied to an axe. (corrected)
