When attempting to load a saved world in single player created on version 1.4.6 I received this error message:

      Minecraft has crashed!      
      ----------------------      

Minecraft has stopped running because it encountered a problem; Exception in server tick loop

You're starting the JVM with only 256M assigned. That is way too less for Minecraft.
Default is 1G.

I would HIGHLY recommend updating your java, as openJDK prior to 1.7 has been known to cause issues.
