When you place 2 hoppers next to each other above a double chest, one of the hoppers connects to the one next to him. But when you break the one that lead into the chest, the other one still wants to connect to the other one resulting into the fact that items thrown into that hopper won't get placed into the chest. |

Hoppers connect to blocks you click on while placing them. |

That's not a bug! You can just attach that hopper to the chest. |
