[MC-6226] I lose everything every time Minecraft updates. Created: 05/Jan/13  Updated: 07/Sep/15  Resolved: 06/Apr/13

Status: Resolved

Component/s: None
Affects Version/s: Minecraft 1.4.6
Fix Version/s: None

Type: Bug
Reporter: Steven Fish Assignee: Unassigned
Resolution: Invalid Votes: 0
Labels: item, multiplayer, update-failure
Environment:

Mac OSX version 10.7.5, Intel core processor i5
Graphics card, Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB.

Confirmation Status: Unconfirmed
Game Mode: Survival

 Description

The error occurs when I update versions of Minecraft. I.E. I have just updated from 1.4.5 to 1.4.6 but this has also previously occurred at other updates.
I had to just pick version 1.4.6 in the box above but this has happened at every version update I have had.

Basically what happens is any items I have disappear and I have to start from scratch. This includes everything in the inventory, the hot bar, armour/ wearable items and experience levels.
This hasn't been much of an issue previously as I was just starting out but this time I have lost a full set of enchanted armour and a full set of enchanted diamond tools. Whilst not the end of the world it is still very annoying.

No answer on querry, assuming not an issue anymore.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Comment by Jesper the End [ 11/Feb/13 ]

Do you save & quit to title befor quitting the game?

Comment by Steven Fish [ 06/Jan/13 ]

Not exactly sure what you mean by "worlds" but it happened to the online server this time, but the previous update did it to my single player version as well as.
Edit
I am loged in when I am playing and use the normal default launcher to get into mine craft.

In the saves folder i have two worlds. (One on creative and one on survival)
Both of these have two files with the .dat extension. One is player.dat the other is yo_sushi1.dat (My user name.)

Comment by Kumasasa [ 06/Jan/13 ]

Do you login for playing or are you playing offline ?
Do you start the game by the default launcher ?
How many <playername>.dat do you have under .minecraft/saves/<worldname>/players/ ?

Comment by Tails [ 06/Jan/13 ]

Reopened, but we need more information. Does it happen on a specific world, or on all worlds?

Comment by Steven Fish [ 05/Jan/13 ]

This issue is not resolved
the error report is misleading as it has been altered after the error reported occurred.

Comment by Steven Fish [ 05/Jan/13 ]

Tails
The problem occurred before any mods where added.
The update and problem was done 2 days ago and on the previous update to 1.4.5 I played with mods this morning before I found this webpage. Is I stated in the original It is not the first time this has happened and I have never had a mod version before this morning. For at least the simple reason I didnt know how to do it.
Anon Ymus
It it the version given to me by the website linked above. It also has a test page that says it is up to date.

Comment by Tails [ 05/Jan/13 ]

This ticket is invalid as it relates to a modded or 3rd party client/server.

  • Any non-standard client/server build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang.
  • Any plugin issues need to be addressed to the plugin creator.
  • This site is for addressing issues related to the base unmodded MineCraft.
Comment by Anon Ymus [ 05/Jan/13 ]

And your Minecraft is modded. (It has Rei's Minimap at the least.)

Comment by Anon Ymus [ 05/Jan/13 ]

That's not the latest Java, I have to say.

Comment by Steven Fish [ 05/Jan/13 ]

Have downloaded the latest java and it has given me:-
java version "1.6.0_37"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_37-b06-434-11M3909)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.12-b01-434, mixed mode)
Please remember this is a Mac version and not necessarily the same format as windows.
(The website verifies this is the correct version)
Ok the error report gives me

Comment by Anon Ymus [ 05/Jan/13 ]

Actually, the current version is 1.7_10.

Comment by Maarten Thijs [ 05/Jan/13 ]

java version 1.6 haha!
the current version of java is 7.9!
delete the current version of java from your pc.
if you accidentally have multiple java's installed on your pc, delete all of them

and download the current version from http://www.java.com

but look out if you have the right java for your pc! If your pc is 64 bits then you download the 64-bits version. if it's 32 bits vice-versa.

if you have done all this. look if the problem is still there

Comment by Steven Fish [ 05/Jan/13 ]

I dont know how to make a video of this and I dont have a program to make videos with. Sorry.

Comment by Maarten Thijs [ 05/Jan/13 ]
