 Description

Previously, when a redstone lamp or fence gate was toggled it would cause a block update (i was attempting to use it to update a piston for redstone purposes), but in the latest snapshot it does not. Regardless of whether this is a "fix" or a bug, a vast proportion of redstone contraptions use this functionality and if it is removed then they will all be completely broken. It would be a shame if the "Redstone update" broke the vast majority of redstone made since 1.2.

if observers detect this, why don't pistons?

strage that sheep eating grass doesnt cause a block update but grass dying from having something on top of it does

Comment by reddi [ 15/Aug/13 ]

If a sheep eats a grass block and turns the block into dirt, the server doesn't fire a block update.
Please add the flag for block update to the responsible eating grass AI to fix this.
Thanks.

I would like to add, that this is also the case for growth of crops.
For example wheat growing does not cause block updates as it should.

please fix this bug please!

Still confirmed for all versions until the most recent.

Also, adding or removing bottles from brew stands no longer create updates.

We are very aware (MC-8184).

also placing redstone torches and redstone blocks doesn't update tnt but removing them does

Signs aswell.

How about a block, when it has an item placed up to it, touching... it will emit a red stone signal? And you can make the block on one side look like any other type of block

Comment by Dalton Richardson [ 04/Jan/13 ]

Even if they did add an official BUD, this kind of (hopefully) bug would make them much harder to use. For people who actually mind the quasi-connectivity problems, these not causing updates makes them more difficult to deal with.

And no, they shouldn't add a block, as the BUD isn't only a switch. Heres a vid that explains the fully potential of BUDs and why they should stay(in their current form, not as an block): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYe_xe7SNKY

Comment by Maarten Thijs [ 04/Jan/13 ]

and yes, I know it's allmost impossible to make a bud block

Comment by Maarten Thijs [ 04/Jan/13 ]

they need to add a bud block or keep this in game

Comment by Tails [ 04/Jan/13 ]

Confirmed.
