| Description |

When blocking with a sword while walking on ice, movement is much slower than when blocking while waling on dirt. However, when facing diagonally and walking horizontally e.g. holding W and A, movement is at the same speed as walking on dirt, but restricted (sort of) to horizontal movement. Confirmed with different swords, biomes, game modes, weather and worlds. |

I checked if this was still true with shield blocking (1.9-pre1), and it isn't. Blocking with a shield has exactly the same movement speed on ice (And packed ice) as it does on other blocks, both when walking straight, and when walking diagonally. And as sword blocking isn't a thing anymore, this bug is obsolete. |

I guess since sword blocking is no longer a feature, this bug doesn't matter anymore? Or is it the same story with shield blocking? I would test myself, but I don't have access to MC right now. |

Not fixed, it depends on the velocity you have when starting to block. |

I think I'm seeing it too. |

Facing diagonally and pressing A+W or D+W at once ... was able to reproduce faster movement this way in 1.6.2 (never noticed this before though). |

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.6.2 / Launcher version 1.1.3 ? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. |

This can also occur in 1.5 when just walking (no blocking or anything required). |

Confirmed in 1.5 pre-release. In fact, as soon as you are in the sort of "locked" movement, you can let go of one of the movement keys, and you still move along one axis instead of diagonally. |
