This is still a problem! I tested it in singleplayer 1.14.3 with mobGriefing = false The sheeps eat the grass and the grass dont dissapear. With this bug it is possible to create op wool-farms when the gamerule is set to false! |

I meant that I tested it in 1.8.2 pre-1, and it was not happening. At some point before 1.8.2 pre-1, it had been fixed. |

This was actually fixed in 1.7.2, not 1.8.2-pre1. |

I tested this, and I'm pretty sure it has been fixed in 1.8.2 pre-1. |

This is a bug, mobGriefing should prevent mobs from changing the world at all. That's why it also prevents zombies picking up items. This has been fixed in 1.8.2 pre-1. |

@Jonathan actually, the enderdragon and silverfish will also ignore the mobGriefing gamerule. |

I would think that with mobGriefing false, the sheep would still eat grass, but it wouldn't change the grass block into a dirt block. mobGriefing false does prevent farmland from being reverted to dirt when jumped on, does it not? That seems like the most similar event. |

this is not a suggestion is a BUG, because the game rule mobGriefing is a rule to control mobs have the ability to CHANGE blocks |

Actually, as I thought about it again, turning mob griefing off should prevent all mobs from changing the world/blocks at all. As far as I see, sheep are the only mobs who currently can damage the world with mod griefing off. So I think this is a valid bug. Obviously there are way more important bugs out there so I don't mind if this stays closed for now. |

Jonathan, I see your points, but this is still not a bug. |

Generally I would agree that it's not an issue. But there are some cases where sheep eating grass may be annoying:

In my eyes not a bug: Sheeps eat grass which will regrow on the dirt block. |
