 Description

I was testing various potion effects on various mobs and noticed that the strenght potion effect appears to not affect wolf damage.

What I was expecting was that the damage gets added to the normal damage like normal.

What actually happened was that the potion had no effect on the damage the wolf deals, with both strenght 1 and 2 potions the wolf dealt 1 heart of damage on easy and normal and 1.5 hearts on hard.

Although there is no change in the damage the woldf deals, it still gets the normal potion swirls.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Spawn or find untamed wolf
2. Hit it
3. Get hit by it, you take 1-1.5 hearts of damage if you don't wear armour, depending on difficulty
4. Splash the wolf with strenght potion of your choice
5. get hit by it again
6. still take the same 1-1.5 hearts of damage

Also confirmed in 1.7.5.

Can somebody please update the Affects Versions tags? They're very outdated. Thanks.

have noticed this in game, (14w11b) I was trying to spawn wolves that could not deal damage using active effects, good to see there's a bug report for this already.

I tried to work around it by spawning them in with the NBT attack damage stat set to 0 but they were still able to deal the normal amount of damage.

Confirmed in 1.7.4.

Strange. This is a good report, as users wouldn't usually think of trying positive potions on aggro wolves. Voted up.

Confirmed.
