 Description

What was expected was to enchant a book at the Enchantment Table.
Instead, I lost the XP and the book wasn't enchanted and could still stack with other books.

To reproduce this,
1. Log on to a Multiplayer Server (the one I used was Rugotopia.Beastnode.net:25571)
2. Gather XP (if not already gathered)
3. Acquire a book and enchanting table (I had the "full" enchanting table that goes to level 30)
4. Enchant the book. (I tried last tier [3rd row] and second tier [middle row])
5. See that the book stays the same (not enchanted) but your XP decreases by the enchantment level.
6. Even try to enchant something with the Should-Be Enchanted Book, and see it doesn't Enchant.

Just to note, mcMMO was disabled/removed from the server, and enchanting books now works. I'm sorry for wasting you guys' time.

Ok sorry

This ticket is invalid as it relates to a modded or 3rd party client/server.

  • Any non-standard client/server build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang.
  • Any plugin issues need to be addressed to the plugin creator.
  • This site is for addressing issues related to the base unmodded MineCraft.

No. It uses mcMMO,and a lot more stuff that is more control-the-server based

Your server isn't vanilla Minecraft server ?

Comment by Minoo Han [ 22/Dec/12 ]

I tried a fresh book today, leather and all, but it still doesn't work. Could it be something about plugins installed into the server?

Comment by Kumasasa [ 22/Dec/12 ]

Cannot confirm in SMP.
I don't know if it does matter: The book was created in 12w50?, the enchantment table & bookshelve in 1.3.2.

What if you create a fresh book and try enchant it?

Comment by Minoo Han [ 22/Dec/12 ]

Maybe it had to do with the creation of the book. Try breaking a bookshelf and using those books or it may just have to do with what version the books were created.

Unable to reproduce.

I cannot confirm.

Updated the title to clarify the issue.

Comment by Tails [ 21/Dec/12 ]

Ah now I understand, reopening.

Comment by Minoo Han [ 21/Dec/12 ]

Oh ok. Sorry. I updated this ticket with the operating system and Java Version. Well also, the books aren't enchanted. They are still normal books when I try to enchant them. It's more of a Enchanted Books problem than anvils or Enchanting Tables problems.

Comment by Tails [ 21/Dec/12 ]

I left a comment in MC-1907, to take a look at your bug for using the anvil with enchanted books.

Comment by Minoo Han [ 21/Dec/12 ]

Well MC-1907 has more to do with repairing than enchanting. Should I just edit this "Ticket" and put the rest in?

Comment by Tails [ 21/Dec/12 ]

Duplicate of MC-1907.

Comment by Minoo Han [ 21/Dec/12 ]

New Ticket? Could you explain? Would I start a new one then?
