Confirmation Status: Confirmed
Game Mode: Survival

 Description

This happens in both Survival and Creative.

1. Press F3 and look at your X or Z "c: ()" chunk/block coordinate.
2a. (Survival)Make sure hunger is high enough for sprinting.
2b. Sprint along one axis.
Notice after 10 chunks to the block that sprinting stops.

Tried with slow and speed potion with different results:
Slow: Seems to lower the amount of distance to around 9 chunks.
Speed: Seems to increase the amount of distance to around 13 chunks.

Possibly time related and not distance?

Confirming fixed in 15w46a.

I always thought that was a feature! Like after sprinting for a while you have to catch your breath a little... But I welcome the change!

Still a concern in 1.7.4/5 and 1.8

Comment by Galaxy_2Alex [ 21/Jan/14 ]

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.7.4 / Launcher version 1.3.8 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

(Especially the sprint key needs testing)

I still experience it in 1.6.2.

Related to MC-242, but this is more specific.

Can confirm. Seems to be related to time and not distance.
