 Description

Well, this one's quite simple. Boats can stick in the ground. The attached picture is intended to depict that.

Fixed as of 1.9

Cannot confirm for 1.9.1-pre3, the hitbox now includes the lower part, but please recheck

Comment by user-f2760 (Inactive) [ 17/Mar/16 ]

Is this still an issue in 1.9 or 1.9.1-pre3?

Comment by Alawnely [ 20/Jan/16 ]

Confirmed for 16w02a.

Comment by Kumasasa [ 18/Nov/15 ]

Is this still an issue in the current Minecraft Snapshot 15w47a or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Confirmed for

  • 1.8.6 Like ericz1 said, the hitbox doesn't include the bottom of the part. Maybe this was a easy solution to make the boot look normal when swimming in water, but it is incorrect.

This might be or at least relates to: MC-50367

Confirmed for 1.8/1.8.1-pre2. More of a visual glitch as the boat's hitbox does not incorporate the bottom of the boat, causing the hitbox to meet the ground but the bottom of the boat to go through it.

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w05b? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Yeah, boats are supposed to sink into the ground like that by 0.3 blocks. The only "bug" here is that they initially spawn 0.3 blocks higher client-side, before the server corrects that with a position update. Unfortunately though, simply removing that client-side offset, reveals some more substantial bugs which would need to be fixed as well.

They do.

Comment by Kumasasa [ 12/Dec/12 ]

After reloading the same boat floats above the ground - about the same amount of sinking in the ground (sign error ?)

Boats sink always about 2/16 pixel in the block below, regardless if this is water or a solid block.
