I set up a track along a portion of a cobblestone wall. I set up a powered rail at the beginning of the track, triggered by a button. At first, I had a number of powered rails along various places in the track as well, but the glitch remained when I removed them. It doesn't matter how I get going (powered rail, pushing the cart and then jumping in)as soon as I start riding in the cart, it begins juddering violently and does not slow down, moving along the track until I break the cart. If the empty cart is sent along the track it acts normally, however, slowing down and stopping once it is past the powered rails. It only seems to happen with me in the cart. |

From the Minecraft Wiki: "A single powered rail on flat ground against a stop block gives an occupied cart enough momentum to travel 80 rail tiles on a flat surface, or 8 tiles for an unoccupied cart." |

Here's a little more info: The total drop after the initial powered rail is 3 blocks - one and then two. Also, the cart does seem to lose a small amount of speed when it goes around a corner, and then it continues on at a steady speed until it hits the next corner, where it slows down a little more, and so on. I've just realized that this may be totally normal. Are the carts supposed to maintain speed over a straight, flat section of track? If so, I'm sorry to have pestered you! Thanks! |

Ah, see, I didn't know I wouldn't automatically have the newest snapshot, so there's one lesson learned. I got 12w49a and now the cart doesn't judder at all - great! HOWEVER, I still think it travels way, way, way too far. It starts off with a single powered rail, admittedly it does then go down a few small drops, but it doesn't stop, and hardly slows, once it reaches the level area that follows. So here's a dumb question - the zip folder is way too big to attach, the limit being 10 MB and my zip being 78.8. I've never done this - what exactly do you need? |
