 Description

Successfully fire a bow with the fire aspect enchantment into an enderman (it can be a little hard). Even though the enderman will light on fire, the arrow won't stick in the mob. [TO HELP REPRODUCE: Turn smooth lighting and 3D anaglyph off. If undetected and you shoot the arrow at the enderman, the enderman will get hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrZ1hsF-WB0 That shows an example that still works in 1.4.4, 1.4.5, and 12w49a]

But not for 1.4.5 and 1.4.4 then.

Sorry, I was just saying in general. My comment wasn't meant to answer your question. But yeah I see that your right and it was a bug not a feature. Can we consider this resolved? I confirm for it being fixed in the 12w49a snapshot.

You didn't answer my question. One of the fixes for the 12w49a snapshot is disabling the flame affecting them.

Comment by Ryan Madsen [ 10/Dec/12 ]

Well the wiki says you should be able to. Not sure why it shouldn't be possible, unless it is an unintended feature. It says "Arrows, snowballs, and eggs will usually not hit them due to the fact that they usually teleport away before impact. However, shooting an Enderman with a bow carrying the "Flame" enchantment will still light it on fire, even though it will take no direct damage from the arrow. This can be an effective method of holding off and killing Endermen from range."

Can you confirm that this occurs on the 12w49a snapshot without any mods installed?

Comment by ReduxMC [ 10/Dec/12 ]

The endermen doesn't appear to get hit by the arrow, but still catches fire so I assume it's due to a bug or is actually hit by the arrow, in which case the arrow should be in it's body.

Sorry I cannot reproduce this in the latest snapshot. As indicated in MC-1240 entermen can no longer be hit by flame arrows, and they aren't even supposed to be hit by normal arrows.

Turn smooth lighting and 3D anaglyph off. If undetected and you shoot the arrow at the enderman, the enderman will get hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrZ1hsF-WB0 That shows an example that still works in 1.4.4, 1.4.5, and 12w49a.

How does one go about reproducing this?
