Problem presents and is easily reproducable when near a large number of animals (player made farm). in our case 20+ chickens, 10+ cows, 10+ pigs in a 64block square area. When out in a "quiet" area, sound runs at about 0.2% - 0.5% on the Shift F3 Menu pie chart. When near the animals, this jumps to 7% - 10%. When it spikes, it results in a sudden FPS drop to 0-5FPS which lasts for about 5-10 seconds at a time, and occurs anywhere from every 30seconds to every couple minutes. If sound is turned to 0% in the settings, the usage drops to 0.1% and the problem is no longer reproducable (but we have no sound) Another user reported the same problem here, with the exact same symptoms (and screenshots): http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1558241-major-fps-drop-due-to-sound-with-14/ Also another user reported the problem in this thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1403906-131-fps-issues/page__st__20 (post number 36 by user HeroUnit23) This does not happen on our other computers, only that one computer, though the OS/settings are identical. We have reinstalled to no effect. We noticed the problem when we built the new animal farm. So we just killed all the animals and the issue was no longer a problem. Also if we leave the vicinity of the farm the problem doesn't occur. Hopefully you can track this one down and solve it, it's a HUGE annoyance. |

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue. Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been deliviered. |

The difference between the two launcher versions - even if running the same Minecraft version - is the updated LWJGL. Seems was never a Minecraft issue but is fixed now. |

Ok, I have some new (and strange!) information regarding this issue. If the NEW launcher runs 1.5.2 there is no problem. If I run 1.5.2 with the old launcher, the problem is still there. I discovered this when I got around to checking if the issue was still present in 1.5.2. I ran 1.5.2 using the Windows binary, threw some animals in water, and I get the usual problem. Then I tried out the latest snapshot using the new launcher, and the issue disappeared. Great, it's fixed, I thought! I started with 13w19a and started going back through snapshots to find out which version had fixed it, and I got to the 1.5.2 release and couldn't replicate the issue. So back to the old launcher, 1.5.2, same world... the issue is there. I can even run them side-by-side, and the strangeness persists! So, if you've had this issue, please try to replicate my observations. If this is a consistent behavior, we just need to nail down what's different between the cases and we can kiss this issue goodbye. |

Oh, well, it still affects and is a concern in 1.5.1 |

Just leave a comment with something like "still a concern in (insert version number here)" and I'll update the versions accordingly. |

I'm experiencing this as well with the cows. I think it may be related to https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-46 since I also experienced the lava sound lag. |

Update: Replicated in 13w07a. Update: Replicated in 13w06a. Update: Replicated in 13w05b. Update: Replicated in 13w05a. STEPS TO REPLICATE: 1) Add a number of mobs (three or four works for me, but more make the issue more obvious) to an area with water. The mobs must be in the water. Since my own report was linked to this one, I'll be adding my comments here. This bug seems to be the result of a highly specific set of circumstances. With the world I first noticed it in, I can trigger it reliably by walking close to and then away from my farm. However, I haven't yet been able to replicate the issue in other worlds on the same system. So far I've only used creative worlds, and no matter how large I make the farm (using chickens as in the first farm) I can't cause the issue. Things I'm going to try next are: |
