 Description

When entering the Nether in the snapshot, the nether looked weird. The world didn't load good and you could see though the walls. Also I saw a lot of huge blocks made by all kind of different items. It kinda looks like the SkyGrid what Sethbling made. It just spawned on random places in the nether with all kinds of blocks and items.

Server got resetten to 1.4.5, so I wasnt able make a screenshot.

Gamechap and Bertie have done a YouTube video of this.

Awesome! This has been fixed.

Comment by Sean [ 13/Dec/12 ]

This is officially the worst and best bug ever at the same time. But yeah it needs fixing.

Doesn't happens in SSP. Just in SMP. There is some gold ore and the game lag. Added a screenshot to see what contains these fake chunks except obsidian and fire block. Water, lava and mob spawner and some other blocks are also in these chunks. Grass is miscolored.

Changed title as same issue happens in the end aswell.

Comment by Anon Ymus [ 08/Dec/12 ]

I can certainly confirm this. When I give an incorrect block an update, it deletes. Chunks around the portal are fine.

I've loaded such a wolr in Singleplayer and MCEdit and it wsa looking fine, but on a multiplayer server it happens. You can also get stuck in air or get set on fire, this is because the world is fine on the server but not for thze client.

In the end: the same thing http://i.imgur.com/W6rKm.jpg
When you hold right mouse button and hover over these "bugged" blocks, they start to disapear.

sorry I didn't know it was only mp. I tested it on my server and nether generation is indeed completely broken. luckally i made a back-up.
@dinnerbone I pressed f3+c and generated a crash report for you.

Comment by Stephen Philp [ 08/Dec/12 ]

From the tests I've done, this seems to be client side. Logging out and in again causes different chunks to load properly, so they all seem to be fine server-side

Comment by Tails [ 08/Dec/12 ]

Confirmed on vanilla server.

This bug is very annoying, I reported it too durp. I hope someone makes it a major bug, sure seems major to me.

Comment by Andrew Gilbey [ 07/Dec/12 ]

This is on multiplayer only. Can confirm that this also happens in the End as well.

Comment by Maarten Thijs [ 07/Dec/12 ]

just created a new world with the snapshot. went to the nether and the end. my nether loaded just fine. so it has to be something on your end

ps. the environment is not for the minecraft environment. it means on what pc were you playing, what operating system etc so you might wanna change that. another question: what version of java do you have?

Comment by Michael F [ 07/Dec/12 ]

It also seems that right clicking blocks (not all just the "bugged" blocks) deletes them. Also placing any block into the affected areas seems to turn into netherrack, maybe a bug in the render? Tested in SMP. Also yes its very laggy too when generating / loading new chunks.

Comment by Emiel Brinkman [ 07/Dec/12 ]

Yes! Those are the exact same things i have aswell.

Comment by Michael F [ 07/Dec/12 ]

Some screenshots on the same issue and a download of a world causing the bug

Comment by MartinDutchie [ 07/Dec/12 ]

I have spotted the same behaviour in The End in SMP. (Would love to add a screenie, but this site does not eat my files...)
