 Description

Put the summary of the bug you're having here

I would expect villagers would behave in areas based off of effects such as light, mob presence, door presence, etc. However, they will completely disregard even the presence of zombies to go to the northwest corner of their box.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.produce a box with area between 25 and 100 square blocks
2.spawn roughly 8-12 villager in box
3.you can attempt to lure them in any way you want, but they will stay in the general northwest vicinity

Note: I did test without the pillars present, and got the same results.

Ok. Resolving this as duplicate of MC-10046

Comment by Markku [ 09/Jul/13 ]

As it is now considered to cover all mobs, it is likely this and MC-10046 are actually duplicates, not just related; note that MC-10046 does cover villagers, too. Or at least I'd first apply the fix in MC-10046 and see if this one continues after that fix.

Confirmed for all mobs.

Reopened.
As already said, this applies to all mobs, not only villagers.

Unable to reproduce either.

After watching a group of 9 villagers inside a 9x9 closed area for 10 minutes, I could not observe the behaviour on 1.4.7. They did often get to various corners, and some other villagers could come to the same corner, too, but all that is quite natural end result of two AI tasks. 1) Without home village they wander randomly, and corners are often nearest to the random target location. 2) Villagers like "meet" with other villagers.

At no time were they all in the same corner, and there was definitely no tendency to get into NW corner more than to others.

Still happening in 1.4.6. My sister took a screenshot and I recorded a little 10 second clip to show the ridiculous PIG PILE that happened on top of a ladder on the west side of my pig enclosure. Hilarious, but definitely needs to be fixed.

Is this still happening in 1.4.7?

Comment by Chris Andrews [ 14/Dec/12 ]

This is not only related to villagers. This is related to farm animals (neutral mobs) as well. I started noticing about a year ago (MC 1.0 / 1.1) that my farm animals would crowd the northwest corner of their pens instead of staying evenly distributed. This is most easily noticed with sheep, because the northwest corner of their enclosure will be completely dirt where other corners will will be completely grass.

My apologies for poor grammar

Technically, the if doors were to be surrounding the pillars, they would count as houses. I have had the same problem with that set-up as well.

oh I get it now :3

Comment by [Mod] CubeTheThird [ 29/Nov/12 ]

No, but the other issue also has to do with the villagers crowding in a certain area, which is why 'related' instead of duplicate.

there not in buildings though...

Likely relates to MC-78.
