*Windows 8 and can not connect to my minecraft
server*<https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-3943>

This is confirmed not to be a universal issue with Windows 8.
Which edition of Windows 8? I have Windows 8 Pro and all of my servers work
normally.
Are you running:

Windows 8 Pro
Windows 8
Windows RT

You should not be able to run Minecraft on Windows RT as only apps form the
Windows Store are certified to run on RT.

Ok but is offline-mode set to true on the server? What are the versions of the server/clients?

Comment by Anthony Rocha [ 29/Nov/12 ]

no i do not have any mods installed and yes their are others getting the same thing again ill post the error here is the error next line
failed to verify username![internal error java.net.ConnectException:Connect:Address is invalid on local machine,or port is not valid on remote

Comment by [Mod] CubeTheThird [ 29/Nov/12 ]

This could be caused by many things. Through what medium are you connecting to this server? (is is local or over the internet...) Do you have any mods installed on either the server or the client? Is anyone else connected to the server? Does the server have offline-mode set to true? Try to provide as many details as possible.
