 Description

Iron Golems walk normally at first, then seem to selectively aim for fences. Upon nearing the fence they jump on top and proceed to spin/not move until either the fence is broken or they are pushed off. Troubleshooting seems to find them able to move along fences, but not off of them.

To reproduce: build a fence on uneven terrain, where it is able to be jumped on from 1 side. The iron golem will proceed to climb on the fence and refuse to come down, even after pleading.

I can't seem to reproduce this in 1.10.2. I attached my setup.

Note the original description that the golem needs to move on the fence, not to be summoned on it. The elaborations merely tell how to make a ground-and-fences so that the golems can get on the fence (since fences are 1.5 blocks tall, things can not move on them without having some "step" for help).

Can someone provide screenshots or better instructions on how to reproduce this? Maybe a video? I summoned an iron golem on a fence that stood above flat ground and summoned a zombie nearby. The golem just walked down. Before I summoned the zombie, the golem did nothing except occasionally looking at me.
1.10.2

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been deliviered.

Still occurs in 1.7.4. I saw a pig spinning on the top of a fence.

Didn't test with iron golems, but at least chickens do the fence spinning still in 1.6.2.

They eventually stop or drop. If they drop, they keep trying to get back on top of the fence for a while. Note that the spinning seems to happen only when they move to the fence, not when they are spawned on top of one.

This issue is likely related to MC-4644, which is not completely fixed - I witnessed chickens also do almost predictably a one full turn every time they came down one block.

Still in 13w22a

Same as CubeTheThird. This happens with most mobs, I believe.

I can confirm the spinning on the fence, but after several attempts, each time the iron golem eventually came down and went elsewhere.
