 Description

What I see:

I can play the game for many hours at a time without ever seeing a rainstorm, or snow or thunder. I was under the impression that these ought to occur every 2-4 hours of gameplay, on average.

What I expected to see:

The frequency at which it rains should be approximately the same whether you sleep regularly in beds (as I do) or not.

Comments/Explanation/Speculation:

Sleeping in a bed, which I do regularly, appears to reset the weather counter. This is fine by me /when it's raining at the time/, because it's a handy way to turn unwanted weather off in survival mode, but I don't think it should reset the counter if it's /not/ raining at the time, because then you can play for days on end without ever seeing it rain.

CosmicCrafts and anyone experiencing this problem in 1.17 or later versions, please see this issue: MC-63340. This is most likely your problem.

I was going to report this as a bug myself in 1.17 as it never rains for 100 days straight until I saw that this was resolved as works as intended. In other worlds it rains at a normal amount, but very rarely in a specific world. I know it's been a decade but I'm just pointing out I get this problem in one of my worlds.

To me, for some reason, thunderstorms happen a lot more often than rain.

Resolving as everything works as intended.

rainTime: 40125
thunderTime: 141018
raining: 0
thundering: 0

-> Next rain in 1,67 minecraft days = 33 minutes earth time
-> Next thunderstorm in 5,87 minecraft days = 117 min earth time

(I don't know why Tails wanted the level.dat...)

Attached.

Could you please attach your level.dat file of that world?

i canot confirm, thoug i am a daily player (jobless...) and play for hours. nearly every day (normal day in rl, not ingame) i have rain AND thunderstorms, though i nearly everytime go to bed to stop the rain. using win7 x86, java 1.6.0_24, mc 1.4.5

I play SSP, no mods, and what Kumasasa sees is definitely /not/ what I see. Sleeping reliably causes the rain fade-out animation to play, though it does take several seconds for the rain to stop completely.

I do see rain sometimes, but it is rare, and usually only occurs when I've been underground for a considerable time without sleeping. To try to quantify, I'd estimate I can easily go 12 hours of gameplay without once seeing it rain, maybe 24? It's hard to be more accurate because that's quite a few sessions of play over several days between each rain shower. I can often play an entire weekly test release without once encountering rain before I replace it with the next weekly. A long mining session underground (and hence, if my speculation is correct no resets of the weather counter) is about the only thing that breaks the drought.

Cannot reproduce on SMP.
Regularly sleeping, rain occurs "quite often", somtimes lasting several days, even if sleeping in bed.

Do you have any mods installed?
