 Description

For corrupted worlds, please see MC-2545

Crash: During the loading process of a world, Minecraft switches briefly to the main menu (see MC-185).
If you start loading a world, that takes a long time to load (due to corrupted chunks, see attached world below), when Minecraft switches to the main menu it is now possible to open a second instance of the same/another world, that will lead to the crash attached below.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Download the attached world below.
2. Start it.
3. When the game switches to the main menu quickly open the same or another world.
Minecraft crashes with the crash attached below.

Original Description:

  • After updating to 1.4.5, I logged in and presumed play.
  • At one point, an invisible (and unbreakable) block blocked my path. It was after I navigated a path around it that I noticed some serious lag.
  • I restarted my computer, hoping this would solve things.
  • Selected my save file and proceeded to load into the game
  • The game returned me to the main menu screen
  • I reselected my save file and waited during the loading screen
  • This is where the game crashes! Please see attached txt.

*Note

  • If I select my save file (the first time), and wait about 20 seconds (after being kicked back to the main menu) the game actually loads! However, it is impossible to play because of intense lag.
  • I have no mods installed, and I was on single player!

Basic cause: Corrupted chunks, see MC-2545.

I hope this is enough information!

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been deliviered.

Seperated the crash from the world corruption. For world corruption / wrong location errors and chunk errors please see MC-2545.

Confirmed for 1.6.2

By the way, did some data in player.dat get erased?

Comment by +merlan #flirora [ 17/May/13 ]

I get this crash with Java 7u13 as well; previously, Minecraft had worked.

Comment by Pedro M. Zamboni [ 14/Apr/13 ]

i think it's easy to fix that: just make everything unclickable when a world is loading. but i don't know, i can't code java =P

Comment by MRC [ 02/Apr/13 ]

I had this problem in 1.5.1 as well, but on a different level.
My server log was generating 50-100 error messages per second and was entirely unresponsive, the "stop" command and "x" button had no effect, it required a forced process ending in order to stop it.
It accumulated over 300,000 error log within a few hours.
Restarting the server does not fix it.

The server was running on Windows 7 Ultimate with Java SE 7 U17.

I have thumbed the post and will include an excerpt from my server log below.

The "Wrong location!" error repeats constantly. I've seen it show for Bat, Skeleton, and Creeper. I'm wondering if it has to do with the Chunk File errors.

Comment by Daniel "Glampkoo" [ 12/Mar/13 ]

Add labels to avoid more duplicates.

Comment by Jeremy Stephens [ 08/Mar/13 ]

That might help for the short term, but it doesn't fix the original problem. The entities could start messing up again later.

Comment by Myujinn [ 08/Mar/13 ]

If you want to fix this issue with your world , just go to MCEdit and select a huge area and delete all the entities , that worked for me

Comment by [Mod] Ezekiel (ezfe) [ 12/Jan/13 ]

It seems like the world save is corrupting.

Comment by Jeremy Stephens [ 02/Jan/13 ]

The error is still occurring with the 1.4.7 pre-release.

Comment by Jeremy Stephens [ 02/Jan/13 ]

I reset my world save to a previous state and I'm now able to interact with the world. The 'Wrong location' messages for bats keep repeating, but when I move far enough away, the messages stop. However, when I go back to my base, the bat messages start occurring again. I'm assuming this is just due to the bats despawning when I move away and then respawning when I come back.

Comment by Jeremy Stephens [ 02/Jan/13 ]

Mostly the 'Wrong location' messages I'm seeing are about bats.

Comment by Jeremy Stephens [ 02/Jan/13 ]

I can still load my world, but I get constant "Wrong location" messages and I can't interact with the world at all. If I break a block, it pops back. If I move to a different area and quit, when I come back, I'm in the same place I was when I started the last time.

Comment by Carina [ 24/Nov/12 ]

Ah well. Thank you for your help!

Do you know how the process works at Mojang regarding these types of bugs?

Comment by Kumasasa [ 24/Nov/12 ]

Nothing. You'll have to wait for Mojang to fix this issue. I cannot do more here

Comment by Carina [ 24/Nov/12 ]

Hurray. I'm not crazy.

What can I do to fix this? Do you have any good ideas?

Comment by Kumasasa [ 24/Nov/12 ]

Well, after running around a bit, the FSP dropped to zero, when reloading your world, I'm getting repeatedly this in the console:

Thanks for the world, but I still cannot reproduce your Issue.

Comment by Carina [ 24/Nov/12 ]

Thanks for being so patient. I only started a few weeks ago - but the game is great!

Comment by Kumasasa [ 24/Nov/12 ]

I'm afraid the level.dat is not enough, can you ZIP the complete world and attach here ? (only if the resulting file is smaller than 10 MB)

Comment by Carina [ 24/Nov/12 ]

I attached the level.dat - if that helps. It's still crashing! Is there anything I can do?

Comment by Kumasasa [ 24/Nov/12 ]

Tried to reproduce with your seed and coordinates, but no crash, see screenshot.

Comment by Carina [ 24/Nov/12 ]

Thanks for the reply!

Is this what you're looking for?
