I was spawning lots of wolves, and I noticed that when I spawned them in large groups on one block, LOTS of newborn wolves spawned. I tried it for other mobs that can have children (except NPC's,) and it was the same. Why? |

Exactly what Xavier Brown said: aiming at a block spawns an adult mob, while aiming at a hitbox of a mob spawns a baby mob of that kind. Easy to reproduce while having the debug hitbox display on (F3+B) |

issue To expand on this issue, (I am not sure if it should be a new one but is close enough to this one) This bug gives the player an infinite supply of baby mobs if used correctly. *Granted it's not easy for someone in s/h mode to get spawn eggs but it can happen. |

I see what's going on. When you right-click a mob with the right spawn egg, it SHOULD spawn a baby one. If your cursor is just a pixel off the entity itself it will target a block, in which case would spawn an adult. By the way, Villagers might do this on their own if the population of the village you spawned them in is lower than normal. And so will Ocelots. Is there a particular mob that is doing this? |

Right clicking with the spawn egg only sometimes spawns a newborn. |

That spawns an adult of the animal, and I think, sometimes a newborn. If you do what I did, the majority of the mobs that you spawned will be newborns. |

If you right-click a mob with their spawn egg, it will create a baby. Is this what you are doing? Because the babies all spawn in the same place under the parent, they will all suddenly spread out if one moves just a tiny bit. |
