 Description

The fishing line is not connected to the pole. I will attach pictures.

As it appears that I cannot add pictures (the upload stalls at 99%), you'll have to check for yourself. Just cast your line and notice how the end of the line (closest to you) hovers in space a short distance in front of the end of the pole.

This ticket is now obsolete due to MC-47571.

These pictures(2014-02-11_19.44.50.png and 2014-02-11_19.45.09.png) are from 14w06b and seem to be a similar bug acting in a different manner. I would have created a new bug report, but it would have the same general description and name as this one.

Is this a new bug? Or the recurrence of the old one?

To reproduce: go fish

Quick test on 1.7.4 seems to give correct connection (except temporarily when turning rapidly). Creative mode, both first and 3rd person views, fullscreen and windowed. (I did notice another minor bug while testing this, but bleh, I just can't bother wasting my time creating yet another useless issue report.)

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w04b? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Weirdest thing... When I tried to reproduce this on MCP decompiled version, the line was connected correctly when staying still. Rapid rotation of player still separated the line from the rod's end. Whether the first part being right is caused by some change by MCP or one of my accumulated other fixes, I don't know yet, have to revert all my fixes...

Edit: Nope, could not reproduce the constant shift on (probably) clean MCP version. 1.4.7 does show it, so it is not my drivers or such.

Confirmed in 13w06a.

Okay what appears to be happening is that the "line" is being drawn from a fixed point on the player's screen that is not accounting for arm movement.

Confirming for 1.4.6.

Ok, reopened.

To reproduce, throw a line out and spin rapidly in either direction. Notice that the fishing rod bobs about but the end of the fishing line is fixed.

I did use the search; this is not the same bug as MC-2920. That bug has to do with how the line is shown when using the pole to strike. This bug is about how the line appears when NOT striking. Please re-open this bug report.
