 Description

Lots of flickering of the minecart when riding and falling sand, gravel and anvils flicker too.

With the new "non-flickering" build of 1.4.5.

I also confirm that mine carts, sand, and gravel no longer flicker/jitter in 12w49a. Everything is nice and smooth.

Comment by Richard Cox [ 07/Dec/12 ]

Can confirm mine carts not flickering in 12w49a.

Didn't really look at other blocks in details, but impression is that they fall more smoothly.

Comment by Constantine Gerontis [ 07/Dec/12 ]

I think this is the same issue that applies here (possible duplicate): MC-3515 - There's a video there I posted that shows the issue of falling blocks jittering/flickering https://mojang.atlassian.net/secure/attachment/14765/Minecraft145_animation_lag.mp4

Comment by Alex de la Cruz [ 06/Dec/12 ]

@Kumasasa Well then its another bug because mine is in 1.4.5

Comment by Kumasasa [ 06/Dec/12 ]

@Alejandro, that should've been fixed with 1.4.3, see MC-6 .

Comment by Alex de la Cruz [ 06/Dec/12 ]

@Richard that is not the same thing as what I am experiencing.

Comment by Richard Cox [ 06/Dec/12 ]

@Alejandro

Such an issue already exists: MC-1642 (as noted above).

Comment by Alex de la Cruz [ 06/Dec/12 ]

I have noticed a sound issue where the minecart sound keeps playing even when no minecart is moving. I thought it might have been caused by the "jittering" but if not, I will create an issue for it. Thank you for fixing this issue Dinnerbone!

Comment by [Mojang] Nathan Adams [ 06/Dec/12 ]

Any audio issues are unrelated to this issue. This issue is about the "jittering" (bouncing back and forth quickly) of various entities, most notably minecarts and falling sand. That bug has been fixed for the next release.

Comment by Big Gray Golem [ 06/Dec/12 ]

Unfortuntely, this bug is polluted with multiple issues, and all other "minecart clipping" threads are being closed as duplicates of this one. I am just writing to confirm the minecart clipping/jerking problem, which occurs along with corrupted audio playback of the minecart sound effects. I hope others will open another bug on the falling entities problem, or Mojang will split this. The minecart lag problem is severe. Tested in new worlds, as well as heavily populated ones. Tested using multiple RAM allotments, different audio drivers, video drivers. No effect. The visible stutter of the cart occurs in all views (1st and 3rd person), and occurs 100% of the time. The related audio stutter is intermittent.

Comment by Jesper the End [ 03/Dec/12 ]

@Xavier Brown
It's a falling obsidian block

Comment by Alex de la Cruz [ 03/Dec/12 ]

i am experiencing this bug and it is really annoying! hope it gets fixed

Comment by FireHunterX [ 02/Dec/12 ]

Dragon Eggs when falling are just black cubes until they land.

Comment by Thibooms [ 01/Dec/12 ]

Indeed, this is horrible.

Comment by Kumasasa [ 01/Dec/12 ]

No, yet there is only the "minor" priority.
Important for the community is to "vote" for this bug, die push the bug to the front of the to-do queue.

Comment by Maarten Thijs [ 01/Dec/12 ]

@kumassa can you change the priority of the bug?

Comment by Sergio Lipstick [ 01/Dec/12 ]

Confirmed in 1.4.5.

Very annoying bug!
It seems that Mojang don't test their updates before release? Maybe yes.

Comment by damien payne [ 29/Nov/12 ]

Confirmed 1.4.5.

Echo on all. Sand block is dropping to lower ground, not very smooth. Cart utility is jumping. Noticeable 4-5 mm skipped frames on both.

Comment by Richard Cox [ 23/Nov/12 ]

@Peter: There is a separate bug report for the mine cart sound problems... which were in 1.4.2 and earlier (IIRC).

EDIT: This one: MC-1642.

Comment by default [ 23/Nov/12 ]

Saw this within 60 seconds of upgrading to 1.4.5, and it's quite terrible. Shows up on Windows XP and 7. I'm playing single-player survival, no mods. Also the minecart sound was glitching, cutting out or rapidly looping a small sample of the sound effect. I also noticed when playing on an older computer that is 'only just' good enough to run Minecraft, that after riding a minecart there is a big performance drop. (from ~15fps down to 1 or 2 fps!) Restarting Minecraft fixes it, until another Minecart is ridden. What is happening here? Problems like this should have been corrected before releasing the program to millions of paying players. I'm a programmer, and even if I'm making something that 6 people are using, I test every possible condition backwards, forwards and every which way, before releasing it.

Confirmed on 1.4.5, Vista 32bit SP3, Java 1.7.0_09 32-bit.

Comment by whizzer0 [ 23/Nov/12 ]

I can confirm this bug.
Also, when I tried it with an in-game screen recorder mod, it crashed the game when recording.

Comment by Anon Ymus [ 23/Nov/12 ]

Duplicate of MC-3727.

Comment by DUD [ 23/Nov/12 ]

Confirmed with clients: 1.4.4 and 1.4.5 (all versions)(Win7-64bit)(64bit Java) on 1.4.4 and 1.4.5 servers (linux).

Comment by Gody van den Bogaard [ 22/Nov/12 ]

Confirmed. 1.4.5(windows)(32bit java) on 1.4.5 server(linux)

Comment by Rob Leachman [ 22/Nov/12 ]

OS X too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbv1SpRQxiU

Comment by Aaron Braund [ 21/Nov/12 ]

Just updated to 1.4.5 today - this is a horrible bug

Comment by Greg Johns [ 21/Nov/12 ]

Confirmed on 1.4.5 . Same map on 1.4.4 was smooth with 245-300 fps on powered rail. 1.4.5 on same map, same rail gets ~150fps with severe jerky minecart motion. The cart looks like it's moving in small jumps instead of smooth motion like before.

Comment by Jesper the End [ 20/Nov/12 ]

does happen for falling sand...
kind of like it actually. Feels really minecraft-ish

Comment by Kumasasa [ 19/Nov/12 ]

Additional info: Does not occur with boats or ridden pigs

Comment by Kumasasa [ 19/Nov/12 ]

Confirmed. I did test first with 1.4.5 pre1 (non flickerung), then with 1.4.5 pre2 (severe flickering)

Comment by Chalmes (Jon) [ 19/Nov/12 ]

Can confirm. This is pretty nasty, as Richard indicated, its worse in-game than what the video managed to capture.

Comment by Richard Cox [ 19/Nov/12 ]

Short video that (sort of) shows the problem. On screen it appears far more extreme.

Comment by Richard Cox [ 19/Nov/12 ]

@Kumasasa: no.

This is much more sever, and happens to all sides of the cart, looking to the sides as well as both forward and backwards.

Comment by Kumasasa [ 19/Nov/12 ]
