Instead of looking at the player lying in bed nearby mobs will look above the player (see screenshots). Steps to reproduce: |

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. |

Well I tested it and this issue did not existed before the single/multiplayer merge (1.2.5 and before) |

I presume this is because your coordinates and not your orientation are used here. Your coordinates are probably right above the bed, and the mobs assume your head is a fixed distance above that. Minecraft is intended for standing up. |
