 Description

You cannot walk through walls which have holes 2 blocks high with a chest before the hole.
But you can walk through the hole if there is a block directly above the chest.
This bug is very reproducible, the screenshots show you how to reproduce it, respectively.

Edit: This applies also to soul sand and end portal frames or generally, any block that is higher than a half slab but no full block.

I'm with lolaapke on this one, I thought this was a feature, and I'm quite disappointed that it's gone as it breaks several of my adventure map builds when played in the latest version.

Oddly, fixed in 14w32b

Comment by Pneuma01 [ 24/Dec/13 ]

It occurs in 1.7.4.

Comment by Lolaapke [ 26/May/13 ]

A lot of people use this trick in their builds. I think it should be considered feature

Comment by Meta [ 05/Mar/13 ]

same for snow layers from 5 - 8 height

Comment by Bradley Paul Gizzi [ 05/Mar/13 ]

Confirmed 13w10a

Adjusted summary.

Might I suggest to the poster of this bug to add that this glitch also happens with soul sand and end portal frames, not just chests. Generally, any block that isn't a half slab.

Comment by Kiran Appiah [ 23/Nov/12 ]

pretty annoying if you ask me, plus why does it then work when there is a block above you?

Comment by [Mojang] Grum (Erik Broes) [ 22/Nov/12 ]

It's actually with any non-full-block-height block.

Comment by Kiran Appiah [ 18/Nov/12 ]

i dont get why this is an intended feature with chests. Surely, it should only be with soulsand.

Comment by Kumasasa [ 17/Nov/12 ]

Soulsand

Same with quicksand.
