Also, as far as I know: Colorcodes like these are going away soon anyway.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.6.4 / Launcher version 1.2.5 ? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

I think I figure out how to fix this bug. Add new /gamerule allowrename true/false. What its do is turn on/off the highlight and italic so its ignore them. Might fix the this problem.

The problem still exists in 1.5.

This is still a problem in snapshot 13w09c. Please fix this, because this is the one thing keeping my map from perfection. What I'm building is a PVP map where one can buy various items, and different item categories have different colors in the name (red=weapon, grey=armor etc.). You can also buy enchanted books, but when you use the anvil to upgrade your equipment the color is lost, changing "Blade of Evil's Bane" in red text to "4Blade of Evil's Bane" in white text. Very annoying.

Kummasa, A anvil problem. This is a vanilla minecraft. You guys try out do this bug with custom (vanilla) items. Do same thing to me. Doesn't matter this is a three-party problem.

Comment by Kumasasa [ 17/Nov/12 ]

Ok reopened. Mojang is aware of that issue.

Ok, but you cannot blame Minecraft for something not working what's not possible with vanilla Minecraft. When you mess around with 3rd party tools at your world files, it's not a Minecraft issue when it's not working. Please report that at the makers of the 3rd party tools.

Comment by Moe [ 17/Nov/12 ]

That's true. This is vanilla Minecraft and these Customized names are implemented for mapmakers to enable additional customization. I would call this a bug, because it can remove the "special character" of some maps.

Try to reproduce this with vanilla minecraft and open a new ticket when the issue still persists.

Comment by Kumasasa [ 17/Nov/12 ]

This ticket is invalid as it relates to a modded or 3rd party client/server.

  • Any non-standard client/server build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang.
  • Any plugin issues need to be addressed to the plugin creator.
  • This site is for addressing issues related to the base unmodded MineCraft.

And you didn't think that maybe the mod you're using is causing this behavior?
