 Description

So in 1.4.4 other people can not connect to a LAN server. "Refuse Connection" 1.4.5 was put out to fix this problem... it doesn't. I am haveing the same issues on 1.4.5 as when I am on 1.4.4. 1.4.2 works fine.

Travis explains:

I am having the same issue with 1.4.5. The purpose of it was to correct the LAN issues, yet the update doesn't even work. In the verision 1.4.5 when I open up my world to LAN it doesn't even show my IP, it just shows "Local game hosted on 0.0.0.0:xxxxx. (The X's being random numbers.) When someone tries to join me, it says "Connection refused".

Thank you Travis

HOW TO FIX

So you made this Anon guy a mod because he doesn't like people being angry at Mojang?

Wow. I can't believe I bought four copies of this game for friends.

Resolving to one issue: MC-2583.

Comment by Tristin Sterling [ 24/Jan/13 ]

anon, why do so many people have this problem if it is not a minecraft problem?

Comment by Tristin Sterling [ 24/Jan/13 ]

I'm having a problem where I can't login because I quit while playing a minigame!!!!!

Comment by Anon Ymus [ 13/Jan/13 ]

That was totally uncalled for. This is a forum for bugs, not for people who are upset about Minecraft to rant. Please clean up your message. And there are clearly plenty of people for whom, LAN worlds work just fine. This may not even by a Minecraft issue because Java or your own network could certainly be at fault.

Comment by Michael king [ 13/Jan/13 ]

Also? I don't even get connection refused - ever since 1.4.7, we can't see LAN games on our network, nor can we connect to them. This is ridiculous - maybe hire a network programming expert to fix the issue? I mean, with the millions of $$, you can get a thousand of them for a couple of weeks.

Comment by Michael king [ 13/Jan/13 ]

Either answer, Mojang, or start giving out refunds. This is ridiculous - you've now made millions of dollars and can't seem to get your head out of your ass in the support department. Fix it - it's been FAR too long for something like this to go unanswered. It's especially apparent that it's an issue on your end, because of the large number of duplicates you keep closing.

Fix the issue or say why you're not or GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK. We've more than paid for the beta period and dammit, I'm sick of seeing so many people having issues and nothing happening about it. Seriously - the excuse of beta is beyond stupid now, you've got millions of customers and millions of $$.

EDIT: it was requested I clean this up; I'm reporting that this bug has taken too long for there to be NO RESPONSE. I'm also expressing that this bug is not fixed, per their claim. This bug MAY be related to Java version, but if so, as a Java developer, I know it's a bad idea to have functionality that is so version-dependent on Java that it breaks for some people with a minor revision update from Oracle (since you seem to think it might be at fault). It's bad, and whomever is in charge of monitoring this bug list should feel bad.

I'll apologize for the harsh tone, but not for the sentiment. This has gone on for multiple versions, and seems to be getting worse. I had 4 computers in my house that could work fine on a LAN. Without any updates to Java, the latest update to Minecraft has now ADDED those computers to the list that can no longer join LAN games. This is not an improvement.

How about another option then, REMOVE the feature until it's working?

Comment by Anon Ymus [ 11/Jan/13 ]

So please try to get 7 update whatever and see if you can confirm this.

Comment by Gianni Stekkinger [ 11/Jan/13 ]

I have java 6 update 38

Comment by Anon Ymus [ 10/Jan/13 ]

Can someone confirm this with Java 1.7 or later?

I REALLY HOPE THEY FIX THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Stirling [ 04/Jan/13 ]

I have the same problem trying to connect to my brothers lan world "connection refused".Still no fix in the new snapshot and i am using wireless interenet.

Is there a temporarily fix? and if so what?

Thanks

I really hope Mojang fixes this bug it is really annoying to turn on Hamachi and attempt to connect through my server

Comment by Doug [ 23/Nov/12 ]

It occurs on wireless. The workaround where you direct connect by entering the computer IP address and port still works but otherwise no dice.

Comment by FireHunterX [ 22/Nov/12 ]

Are you on Wireless or offline? This only occurs for me when I am not connected to wifi.

Running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4.

Comment by Doug [ 22/Nov/12 ]

Having the same problem on my brother's and my computer. He is running Lion and I am running Mountain lion. Both Java 1.6.0_37. When we open to lan it says localhost 0.0.0.0:xxxxx. When the other computer attempts to connect is says connection refused. No connection issues in 1.4.3.

1.4.5 did not fix the issue. Problem occurs both with clean installs and with installs modified with current McPatcher.

This file is not a ZIP it's a JAR. Just copy the file as downloaded into your .minecraft directory.

Comment by Sundayz [ 17/Nov/12 ]

I am having the "Refuse Connection" problem when playing a local LAN game with a friend. We are not running a server we just opened a single player game and then opened that to a LAN game. When I download the fix, it is a .zip file containing many files none of which are an application or executable. I can find no place to replace these files or initiate any kind of install/update that would allow me to play at 1.4.5.

Details please.
