| Description |

"Stone" stairs are actually made out of cobblestone, and have the cobblestone texture. This presents a usability issue, because they don't show up when searching for "cobble". |

@Tobari and everybody else... I suggested the fixed translation for the English languages you mentioned. I mentioned it also for my native language (Dutch) and the language I studied at school (French) I think if everybody checks their native language, we can get this issue fixed fast :3 |

This has been fixed in the default (English (US)) language. The others (Australian, Canadian, UK, Pirate) will have to be updated at the Minecraft project on Crowdin. Probably all the other languages too, same place. |

This is not fixed in 14w31a, they're still called stone stairs. |

Also: this bug description is currently listed as affecting 1.4, it should be updated to reflect that it's still relevant up through 1.7 (I'm afraid this will be accidentally closed for appearing outdated). |

Copying in part of the conversation that happened in the comments of my bug: I understand there's a possibility someone at Mojang intentionally named cobblestone stairs as just "stone stairs" to deflect the frequent requests for actual "smooth" stone stairs. However, I don't believe anyone has confirmed this, and I feel it's far more likely this is just an honest oversight (probably a holdover from way back before there were multiple wood and stone types). If Grum or Dinnerbone or someone else drop in here and state that "Stone Stairs" is intentional, then that's fine. I just want to make sure this isn't swept under a rug where they never even see it. |

Reopening for Mojang to consider, now that the ticket's been cleaned up. |

The Status field is rarely of any interest. What you should pay attention to is the Resolution itself: in this case, "Invalid". This is not a bug, because it is how the developers intended it to be. Suggestions are not currently accepted via the Mojira, because the sheer number of them would overwhelm the support staff and drown out the bug reports. The number of duplicate and invalid bug reports constantly posted here nearly do that already. If you'd like to suggest that something be changed, do so by posting on the suggestions forum or subreddit. |

Why are these marked resolved when they aren't resolved? |

It is for some reason called "Stone stairs" in-game. It should be Cobblestone stairs. |

Does the author of this bug mean that stone stairs should be named cobblestone stairs, in line with other derivatives of cobblestone? |

This isn't really a bug or even a suggestion. |
