 Description   

While hitting a dirt block, I noticed it made a sound similar to breaking wood. Not sure if this is just the new breaking sound. Might be worth checking out.

Did you try my procedure ?

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Cannot reproduce.
Maybe there are some soundfiles glitched.
Please try the following:

  • Delete the folder ./minecraft/resources/
  • Start the game
  • Wait several minutes, the sounds are downloaded again
