 Description

It is not the first time when I generated a new world, and it is generated square lakes, and big square cutted hills. It is also cut off water flows, and water don't flowing. For example. in this seed: "-4259845526421387129" (world type default)
It has square biomes, square lakes, and square hills. You are able to see them in the screenshots.
How did it happened:
I generated maps for seed reviews, so I can make videos of the seeds I found. I generated a map with a random seed (it was -4259845526421387129), and when I saw what did it generated, it reminded me on other generations, because it is not the first time, I already generated a square cutted map.

IMPORTANT: I tried to re generate the map, and it generated a similar map, but NOT THE SAME. I cannot fin any of those square buildings again, only on that map. (Another bug, or that is how to reproduce this bug)

Reproduce: Go back to your singleplayer worlds, click on your chunk failure world, and click "re generate".

But creative or not, it is the same map generation code, so could still be the same issue.

Comment by Ads1705 [ 14/Nov/12 ]

@chalmes Not really this is a problem where the 'normal' map is being loaded in creative minecraft where as this is a problem loading the chunks correctly in the 'normal' minecraft.

Possible duplicate of MC-315 ?

So to make things clear:
It is getting cut off chunks which causes water that does not flow properly, and land which is messed up. So the actual problem is getting cut off chunks. As if that is fixed then the cut off water won't happen and the land wont be messed up.

I'm a little confused. What exactly is the bug for this issue ticket (remember 1 bug per ticket). Is it that your getting cutoff chunks, that generated water does not flow properly, or that there is a problem with the re-generate option?

Are you naming the world with the same name after you delete it? That is a known issue that can cause generation issues where chunks from the deleted world of the same name get mixed into the new generation. Perhaps this is a similar issue related to the use of the new regenerate world option?

Yes, So both the sand thing, water and messed up water falling is to do with chunks not loading correctly? That would be something that would seem correct looking at why and what is happening.

What does Ads1705 talking about (the sand thing) is because of the lakes in deserts and id creates some floating sand blocks, and the other sand blocks are falling down because of Block Updates. (can be detected with redstone, it is called BUD;Block Update Detector) when a block updates, (it means it had something change in the sides of it, or has been breaked, or something been placed on it) happening, they are reminds the sand that is should fall down. So the sand is fall down if you place a block on top of it, or break a block beside it, or just refresh. (You can refresh it only if something "refreshable by hand" is generated beside it, like a furnace, or a door. I am talking about this generating problem, which is weird, and not just because it is made up like chunks, it is weird because it is generates normally after re-generating the map. Reproduce the problem I meant by delete the map or create a new one with same seed, if you built on that map you can't get it back on another map. One of my pictures was the Witch Hut glitched in sand. Sand was inside the house too, and I don't know where is the witch? Maybe it is like when villages been added with no npc s, but I want to see a witch in swamps. I know that is not related to the issue, but I just want to kill some witches in survival without using spawn eggs

I tried, and this is the *second* time when it is happening, and this is the first after refreshing my minecraft. This IS a generation issue with the chunks. I noticed, that after re generating the map with the same properties will change the map. This is just weird

What do you make of his second to last screenshot then? " It is also cut off water flows, and water don't flowing. For example. in this seed: "-4259845526421387129" (world type default)"

Ads1705 your comments about the water do not directly relate to the OP's square generation issue. Water not flowing properly in relation to cave & ravine generation is a separate issue although I believe it is happening for similar reasons to the OP's issue.

I have never experienced that kind of generation problem in 1.4.2 so far and the seed presented generates normally for me. I would recommend the OP do a clean install of his minecraft client by renaming the .minecraft folder to .minecraft_old and then download a fresh copy of the launcher off minecraft.net and use it to launch and redownload. Then retest to see if problem still exists.

Some where near being in the same kind of category which is to do of things not working how they should (when a chunk loads with cut of water then it should fall into the hole) is that sand as well acts in the same way. If found when exploring and you destroy one block then the other sand around it being held up weirdly falls as well, with the water if you break one block the water around it also falls. Funny how these things work. but I would assume it has something to do with an error when the chunk is loaded and block updates.

I have had this before, In 1.4.2 where there has been a ravine, and a lake. The water sits at the edge but does not fall into the ravine like it should. Have come across this many a time in fact.

Impossible to reproduce.
I've tested that in 1.4.4 .
