Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.8.1 Prerelease 3 / Launcher version 1.5.3 or later? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. |

We found another issue with stacked items (tools and weapons) going into an anvil. One of the players on our server was able to enchant an entire stack of 64 picks with a single enchanted book. |

In the case of repairs, it repairs only the top item in a stack (which is the only one damaged), and in the case of naming or enchanting stacks, it isn't possible legitimately, and it can be used to name or enchant stacks of swords (or other unstackable items) in an adventure or PvP map. I would use it to mass produce enchanted or named items that don't normally stack by /give-ing myself a stack of the items and enchanting the stack of them or naming the stack and distributing them. Correct me if I'm wrong. |

The issue here is not to put stacked items on the anvil per se, it's using normally *un*stackable items as a stack on the anvil. |

However, its not a bad idea to rename a stack of blocks cheaply; forcing users to individually rename dirt for example in an adventure map would be tedious for map makers, I have no idea why you would want a stack of swords unless they were all the same, again this is only relevant for map makers who would be the only people to use this. |

Jonathan, you are right. Reopened |

You can also get a stack of swords by using so I guess this bug should be reopened. Also, changing the anvil code to prevent stacked repairs or to calculate the correct cost should be quite trivial. |

This is because tools and armour cannot be stacked. To achieve this, you would have to either use a mod, or edit the game files. |
